the viruses are coming

You guys do realize Deck is counted as a Linux Distro + other handhelds, ain't nobody installing that trash on their rig.
>>
>are coming
Don't look at your opened sockets
>>
>>108540277
>Linux is counted as Linux
very insightful take
skin color?
>>
>>108540277
Yes the article spells out quite clearly that a huge portion of the jump is from people buying Steam Decks. But so what? The Deck has interesting hardware and a good distro config. I don't fucking care if normies aren't installing it by hand, they don't install Windows either!
>>
>>108540264
Most of that is only because of the steam deck, troonux is still a failed os
>>
>>108540277
you can check the exact percentage of people using steam decks in the survey
why are retards just spitting out their easily disprovable headcanon shit?

AMD Radeon Graphics (RADV VANGOGH)
12.26%
AMD AMD Custom GPU 0405
11.46%
23.72% of linux users are on the steam deck
>>
>>108540277
I did a year ago, only game i've missed because of having troonix is Marathon. Everything else i play/want to play works fine.

Last month's results were from Chinese new year.

This months results have oddities like "0 64 bit" and "64 bit" which were never there last month. Cachy, Bazzite and some others such as people who use steam flatpak are completely absent this month. There is no event to explain the sudden jump either. Dodgy data is likely.

Next month will likely be a return to normal.

I only keep windows for pirated games nothing else

I'd call you a worm, but at least a worm makes good bait.

Android is Linux.

All of my friends IRL who arent blithering retards or Mac users have completely switched over to Linux or are running VMs or dual-boots. MicroSHEET lost. No one will pay the Jeet-Gates taxes anymore. The EU is rejecting it. As well as the multi-polar niggas like Chyna and Ziggers.
>>
>>108542353
pretty much this
i only keep it for running some drm infested shit like tonex software and hentai games
>>
I don't buy the 5% number, watch it be under 4% next month.

>a failed os
As opposed to contemporary Windows?
>>
>>108542912
That's what usually happens when a normal person is exposed to Loonix.
>Finally! I am free of MS, that will show them for forcing this copilot shit one me!
>Okay, fuck, all my programs don't work
>Wait, why do all games perform so shit?
>Oh, apparently, I need to install 'the real nvidia driver'.
>What the fuck is an MOK
>Okay, that was weird. And the driver still isn't apparently. At least this random command from this random person spits out nothing in the terminal. Also, why the fuck do I have to reboot this shit like 8 times a day
>Oh, system updates are ready. Maybe this will fix everything?
>Oh, great, another reboot. Who would have known.
>...The OS doesn't boot. Doesn't even give me an error message. Just a black screen.
>OK Google, how do you reinstall Windows

Tale as old as... desktop Linux.

The funny thing here is usage for steamOS holo decreased which means this bump in user share is purely due to more people installing Linux. GOL has a good write up for this but essentially the user count is a huge jump even when you factor in Chinese users and all that crap. If you only count English language installs the user count jumps to over 10%.

Once they make a "Gaming Linux" and reviewers publish the benchmarks with 3 to 8% fps gains over Windows, the mass migration will start.

As much of a pain in the ass as WINE is, I'd still rather use WINE than actual Windows.
>>
>>108540277
Breaking news: Normies would never install an OS themselves.

Stay tuned for more retarded takes

Linux (OS) is extremely decentralized. Have fun targeting with malware a gazillion combinations of different Linux operating systems, most of which run the software sandboxed and unlike Windows don't default everything their permissions to chmod 777 for everything.

Desktop Linux security is a joke out of the box except on distros like Fedora with SELinux set up for you. Everything but these SELinux distros is much less secure out of the box than Windows or Mac. This is especially true on non Wayland DEs like XFCE or Cinnamon, which have literally no sandboxing of software. Even on Wayland, most applications can read basically anything in your /home/ directory by default, unless they are stopped by SELinux/apparmor/firejail/etc.

As explained above, the only distro I'm aware of that comes with these rules set up in a usable way is Fedora. You can make your own rules for SELinux/apparmor, but this is time consuming and has a learning curve and nobody does this unless they are some Linux admin. On top of this, many distros don't ship with SELinux or apparmor installed in the first place, like Arch. Most Linux users have no idea about these technologies and no comprehension about sandboxing or security.

The idea that Linux is more secure by default is complicated but not generally correct in the way people expect it to be.
