Then I'll buy one and attempt to replace the ROM with a regular Linux (will likely go with rebuilding and flashing Samsung's ROM -> building and flashing an AOSP Android XR -> building and flashing SteamOS -> finally making and flashing a regular linux on it, based on arch or nixos, not sure which one yet).The reason I haven't done any of that yet is that there's no 4K per eye headset with an open bootloader. The Play For Dream got close but they closed down the bootloader before I could get my hands on the device.I was pretty hyped for the Lynx R2 and the Steam Frame before discovering neither was 4K per eye.

All the VR/AR headsets are connected to personal data-hoarding companies (meta and the like).I'm interested in the Steam Frame, since that'll run on Linux, but that has monochrome lenses for passthrough so it's more of a VR-only device, at least by default, though I heard color can be added as a modular add-on or something.
