what is the verdict on the slab era
>>
>>108542696
cool - if that will make normal phones cheaper
idc - if prices will remain the same
>>
when this comes out what point is there in trash ipados still existing
>>
What sort of aspect ratio is that supposed to be?
>>
>>108542696
If they can make a foldable that doesn't come with a mandatory screen protector that must be replaced at an official dealer every few months that would be amazing. They've waited pretty long to get into this market, if they don't bring anything new to it it's going to flop like the apple vision pro

4:3 unfolded, they're trying to make it look like a small ipad
>>
yay, more ways for the phone to break, which is intentional as its literally the only way to get people to keep spending money on stagnant tech
>>
>>108542696
you just know it's another fake
>>
>lets pretend planed obsolescence through wear and tear is actually a feature!
>>
>>108542696
Another point of failure and issue for programmers, and now we have AI that will get pushed to square that circle so when things fuck up no one knows how to fix it.
>>
>>108542784
first thing i thought of
it was a neat little device, never owned one but saw it irl and it was superneato how thing it was
>>
>>108542696
I owned a Z Fold 6 for almost about a year, as much as I do like the concept and it's pretty cool having a portable tablet in your pocket. My issue with it is mainly longevity and having to babying it constantly, I broke the back glass twice and luckily, it was basically a $10 aliexpress replacement to fix it, but still Good luck with going to the beach an praying to god that sand and other gunk doesn't get in the hinge, the display reflection under sunlight shows EVERY uneven warp that's just the result of the manufacturing of an fiexable OLED and not to mention the crease ruined it all despite the retarded reviewers coping
>"A-ah w-well, you don't really notice it THAT much.. It's fine it's really cool! Your phone can can into a tablet!
Content isn't really any better that on a slab unless you like to zoom into your content to fill the screen. Overall I like my iPhone Air better than the fold

I'm excited for it, especially loved the aspect ratio they went for, hopefully the Z Fold 8 Wide is a thing.
>>
>>108543090
I have a z fold 4 and drop it every day for the last 2 or 3 years and although the hinge looks scratched to fuck everything else looks and feels like new. No case or protector (except the factory one)
>>
>>108543090
I have a Z Fold 7 and I took a shit on the screen and folded it like a shit sandwich and I use Linux on my computer.
>>
>>108542738
The iFold is going to run iPadOS
>>
>>108542696
give it two more years. folds won't be standard immediately, normalfags will turn their noses up at it because it'll be too expensive and there will still be a crease. we're getting closer and closer to creaseless. once it's basically creaseless, then it'll be standard. the crease is going to kill normalfag adoption.
and frankly, the realest issue is cameras. you can't get flagship quality yet. normalfags prioritize cameras over all else.
once we get true flagship cameras, then folds will be ubiqituous.
>>
>>108542696
>iFoid
yeah all itoddlers are
>>
My dad got himself a Z Fold 7 after owning the Fold 3.
I can't believe a device like that costs as much as it does while not having a fucking digitizer. It's next level cuckoldry.
I'll consider Flip devices though. I don't mind the crease that much if I can do the basic stuff on the outside screen. I just want something "small", even if it's thick, for quick stuff.
Any recommendations? I'm already into the Samshit ecosystem but I'm willing to try those motorola ones.
>>
>>108545516
>normalfags prioritize cameras over all else.
If that's true everyone would buy those xiaomeme ones with the accessory
Phone cameras overall remain inferior to digital cameras released 10 years ago. The only place where phones have gotten better is stabilization but they still suck copious amounts of cock in low light and they shit out overprocessed garbage to make up for the lack of a decent sensor
>>
>>108545441
it better fucking not
>>
>>108546615
they prioritise the flagship iphone over everything else

It's not like the total price matters they pay it all at $50 a month for a year until the next year comes along then they trade that in and get the next model.

I suppose it matters if you just buy all your phones outright but most people buying iphones also get Applecare+ since iphones get stolen so much so they are paying monthly anyway.
>>
>>108546615
normalfags don't even know what a xiaomi is, retard. there are three kinds of phones to normalfags: iphones, samsungs, and everything else.
cameras are the be all end all for smartphones. people want a square they can take everywhere that takes good pictures and has instagram on it. nobody is lugging around a digital camera unless they're a college girl going through a phase (so a normalfag that'll grow out of it), a boomer, or a professional.
you have no grasp of what normalfags want because you don't interact with them ever, and honestly i'm envious of how small your world gets to be.
>>
>>108551572
In amerilard that might be the case because everyone buys Apple products over there.
In euroland we even have Xiaomi physical stores and normal electronics stores sell not just phones or tablets but fucking Xiaomi appliances. The normalfag buys a Samsung phone first, a Xiaomi phone second, and an iPhone third if there isn't a good deal on some Huawei shit.

Phones peaked here and we've been on a downward trend ever since.
>>
After going from regular iPhone to MAX, i have ditched the case, because of how fat the iPhone 15 Pro Max is. its a chonky heavy phone.

I remember when I bought iPhone 5S after using Galaxy S3, I was surprised with how light yet powerful it was. New phones are glass and metal, I have no idea how some add more weight and heft by adding a case.

My phone has titanium dropped it twice, not a single scratch, and twice in the bathtub while showering with it.

The problem with foldable phones is that they are fucking fat, also the screen eventually cracks and goes to shit.

This will definitely use the excuse of baggy pants era which looks ugly af, i actually considered switching to that ultra thin iPhone which comes with polished titanium, that looks premium AF.
>>
>>108542717
It will be the worst of both worlds - prices will go up and nobody will be making normal phones anymore because MUH NEED TO COPY APPLE DESIGN
>>
>>108552059
I have an Air. It does really feel amazing to hold and every other phone I pick up feels like an outdated brick. The size is perfect for me. It _almost_ makes up for the shortcomings. It's niche, but it fits my use cases.

Battery life issues are overblown IMO. I get an entire day's use out of a full charge. I also have trivial access to qi pads and the like in my day-to-day. The rear camera sucks. The mono speaker also sucks when you're in landscape orientation. End of complaints.
>>
>>108542696
Samsung is gonna mald so hard. They tried to make this their thing, the thing they would be ahead in for so long and Apple will just win and every foldable Android that follows will just be called an iFold clone.

Fold phones are extremely fragile and degrade and break very rapidly from intended use.
Enjoy your 1800-2600 dollar andro/crapple bricks retards.
>>
i actually used a samsung z flip between 2022-2025 and the thing crapped out on me so bad within less than 3 years of use. these things are not built to last a normal amount of time, they never will, i doubt the technology will ever get there and if it does it will probably still suffer from planned obsolescence. just take my advice and never get one of these fold phones.
>>
>>108555378
3 years is a completely normal amount of time.
>>
>>108542696
>new standard
super expensive and fragile so not mainstream for another 4-5 years.
>>
>>108552059
>I have no idea how some add more weight and heft by adding a case.
it's slippery and feels awful in hand, I used phones naked for long long time but finally caved in. it's almost like phones are not designed to be used naked anymore.
>>
>>108555396
lol no. if you're the type of person who enjoys lining the pockets of tech companies and ""upgrades"" their phone every couple of years (or less) then no, it's really not normal. a phone should last you at least 5 years minimum. it's very cattle-minded to get a new phone for the sake of getting a new phone.

i'm too lazy to find it, but i also saw an article monday saying apple was having engineering issues with the folding model and it was delayed.
>>

>are about to become the new standard
no, they're not. even now, nobody wants or needs huge, foldable screens, even though they've been available for years. VR has been available for over a decade and still only a small subset of people want it.

If anyone says "X will become the new standard", they're flat-out lying (to themselves and everyone else).
