So the Terafab keynote just came out and they're going to do packaging, logic, memory and masks all on site. Cool! But where do you get the EUV machines from? ASML/Zeiss are backlogged basically forever, and you're not going to take TSMC or Samsung's position in line. You can have all the awesome Terafab packaging and masks in the world but if you literally can't physically source the EUV machines, what is the point?
>backlogged forever Are they though?
>>108543180No idea. But chinks are working on cloning those machines. They've been busy for a while.Would you be surprised if he got it from them? What are the chances 'murrican companies would fuck up European ASML and Zeiss for quick profit? Considering the fact 'murrican oligarchy already fucked USA itsef beyound repair by transfering like half of it's industry to commies for quick buck.
>>108543180Jewlon Musk is a master grifter.
>>108543180That's something for the 2050's... All of Elon's project have the tendency to either be massively delayed or never come to fruition. If he orders his machines now, he will get them in a few decades.
>>108543180I suppose if you're willing to pay enough you can buy out a EUV contract from an existing fab company. Or buy the company outright.
>>108543321Exactly.It's just another hyperloop/Mars colony/self driving cars/household robot/etc. investor scam. He's collect billions and then go "Oh... but look at this NEW thing I just came up..."The cycle continues.
>>108543220>cloning those machines. The optics alone are impossible to make by anyone but Zeiss.>Oh just clone a mirror that's smooth down to the atomic scale just like....polish it real good....And there are hundreds of companies that produce unique components nobody else can make.Even ASML couldn't clone their own machines without their supply chain.
>>108543192Even if, what would Glorious Europoor give things to faggot americunts if they have said the quiet part of "we have y'all in our collective rectums" part out loud? Fuck you niggers, not getting a single lens ever again
>>108543180if I were to guess, there will be some sort of partnership with intel since they're the only american manufacturer with high end euv machine in north america. >But that undermines terafab's whole point of chip independencewell it's not the first bs elon has spouted so I wouldn't be surprised. Or maybe he'll acquire intel who knows. The whole terafab seems more farfetched than mars landing
>>108543412>The optics alone are impossible to make by anyone but Zeiss.Impossible?Zoomie's and their exaggerations lol
>>108543180>>108543602It's going to be one of those things where if Musk is serious they will end up with a result but it'll be completely dismissed because hurr it's not as good as TSMCs latest and greatest.
>>108543192>can't physically source the EUV machinesElon has identified ASML as 'a bottleneck' - well noshit there, Bald Sherlock - and is 'going to reimagine the industry and fabricate his own 2nm process'. ASML also more or less confirmed, they've never spoke to Musk. I'll say this much for the drooling fucking imbecile, he's def. experienced in fabricating shit. You wont hear jackshit of this nonsense ever again, AFTER the IPO.
>>108543180Why do you keep pushing this retard? He has never once delivered on his idiotic, hyperbolic claims. Why would anyone pay your call center to prop-up this fucking clown? It's fucking mystifying.
>>108543653For the rest of the semiconductor industry, that's revolutionary. This is about as impressive as making a rocket land on its tail, not the first and certainly not flawless but the fact that it exists becomes an existential threat to existing business. The problem is IF it exists in an environment where even Thiel and Ellison cannot bullshit their way into billion dollar evals. I think Elon will run out of OPM by the end of the summer.
>>108543653to be really fair, he's not aiming to create the smallest and greatest chips, it's 2nm. It's still advanced, but actual chip giants are aiming 1nm tech by eoy. And if elon is honest, he's only making chips for his companies so there's really nothing to toot much about
>>108543708He did catch a booster, assuming people will give him the credit. Also, have you checked the catalog lately? its like /hr/ with celebs.
>>108543720Can't really mass produce anything smaller than 7nm without EUV.If you don't have the resolution you don't have the resolution.Only thing he could do is use electron beam lithography instead. But with that you're making transistors one at a time. Each chip taking hours or even days to fabricate.Much like his Las Vegas "hyperloop" he could claim "2nm" but without any capacity whatsoever.
>>108543653>>108543720I mean it's probably all smoke and bullshit as always, but if the whole thing turns into a side production for ram, even just LPDDR4, it be quite a relief for Tesla and SpaceX. Heck, even LPDDR5 can be reached on pushed out DUV machines.
>>108543180ask around. they're using the same suppliers as Rapidus but apparently have a 2nd generation system
>>108544718>Ask around, bro. They're using the same supplier as someone elseOk, and that is?
>>108544757Fuji, Nikon, Canonthe competition basically
