i use xfce. it is lightweight, stable and fast!
>>108550704I don't use a DE, I just use xmonad w/ dmenu & xmobar. Pretty comfy, butt if I am feeling froggy I can switch easily to using Xfce4 which is also comfy but mouse centric which I don't like.
Fluxbox has a good balance between helping out and fucking off.
>>108550723>xmonad w/ dmenu & xmobarI don't know what any of those things are
>>108550870https://www.google.com/search?q=xmonad+w%2F+dmenu+%26+xmobar&udm=14
>>108550704stuck on dwm for 4+ years. it just werksgreat for laptops, but works pretty well on an ultrawide monitor too (with columns patch for the rare cases i need 3+ windows at once)i don't think i'll ever switch off. dwm is comfy
Pantheon on elementary OS naturally.
I'm using Niri right now, but I'm finding myself too exhausted to properly set up a shell around it. None of the premade ones I've seen online are how I want so I'm just suffering through with no bg and an un-themed waybar.
>>108550723>mouse centricyou can make it more keyboard centric with only the build-in stuff. it is what i have done.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VnFGkbAI3k
>>108550704I unironically prefer gnome, the default setup is perfectly usable once you get the hang of it. It's opinionated and they are slow to implement new features, but the flipside of that is not having to maintain a million features allows for a level of polish and visual consistency that other DEs just don't have.
>>108551937I prefer xmonad, though, and very rarely feel like not using it.
>>108550704Xfce but i'm considering switching to icewm+rox in the future to minimize dependencies with redhat shit if i'm forced to. I'm currently on xfce because it's the only de that remained consistently the same while improving on functionalities over the course of versions.
>>108550704LXQt. Wanted something Qt-based, but lighter than KDE. Been using it for years now and like it a lot.
awesomewm on hobby laptop, KDE on desktop and work laptop.
>>108550704Windows Shell
>>108550704KDEIt's the one that lets me recreate my ex windows workflow perfectly and actually even improves on it quite a bit.It kinda sucks though, since every other DE now feels lacking in comparison.
>>108555848>every other DE now feels lacking in comparisonhow so?
X11: Xmonad Wayland: Niri
CWM, it's slowly growing on me. Wouldn't have been my first choice but it's the best of what came preinstalled with OpenBSD when I installed it on an old comp, I'm beginning to miss it's quick keyboard shortcut heavy features on other computers.
Gnome
>>108555848this + proper hdr + proper vrr before pretty much any other DE
>>108551006Is it actually good?
>>108557614It's comfy. It hasn't changed much recently except under the hood (it is now Wayland) but I really enjoy it.
>>108554913>minimize dependencies with redhat shitmight as well stop using linux
