Which terminal emulator do you use?

It looks cool. Very sci-fi. What is it, though? Is it a terminal emulator? Is it a file browser? Is it a desktop environment? Looks like a futuristic emacs.
>>
>>108551831
Alacritty and GNOME's Console.
>>
>>108551876
it's a electron app made to look like the UI from Tron but actually usable
nowadays you can just vibecode these i suppose
>>
ghostty
damn near perfect if you ask me

>GPU-accelerated terminal
Is that the state of terminal emulators today? I guess I'm sticking with urxvt and xterm256colors.

st, but before that I used xTerm for over a decade. I haven't played with emacs much, but it's shell kinda sucks. Are there any fixes/patches that I can add to it?
>>
>>108552595
People usually install vterm I think, that's what I have on it and it works pretty good
>>
>>108552150

fuck off

konsole, coz xterm doesn't allow changing font size without mucking about in Xresources. Same with urxvt.

If I want something more customized Sakura is a good xterminal emulator

Legit question. Why does it matter? I don't get it.

try out GNOME Terminal, Konsole, alacritty, ghostty, st, xterm, urxvt. There are major differences in the features, how they handle windows, events, mouse input, customization and so on. Personally, I like classic X terminal emulators that are customized via .Xresources and .Xdefaults, because that is what I am used to. You configure st by modifying the header file and recompiling. Some terminal emulators support images, have inbuilt scripts and all sorts of things, just look at edex.

lol no I don't emulate, I use real terminal hardware like the original developers intended

how often does a terminal editor need to update once it works and all critical bugs have been fixed?

it runs smooth in wangblows, is why I use it
allows me to run zsh

If you have a better alternative I'm all ears.

Xterm; most features, lowest latency. I don't know why I would use anything else.

if you resize the window or after you open man/less, the previous characters that were printed are fucked for some reason
only VTE-based terminals that don't shit the bed

This.
Terminal Emulator is supposed to be just a black square where I write commands for my computer in secret language. Everything beyond that is bloat and because of that there's virtually no difference between good terminals.

>Everything beyond that is bloat
The terminal emulator you got with your DE is bloated.
>>

what is picrel exactly? is it a "terminal" ? what even is a terminal in the oldschool sense? do they have a processor? i struggle to understand early computers

i was using ghostty until a memory leak caused 400GB memory usage overnight. This was after the fix that is supposed to solve the memory leak. Lesson learned to not use meme terminal made in meme language.

I am using kitty now.
>>
>>108552391
K. Enjoy not having cool features, I guess.
>>
>>108559028
I would urge you to abandon the Covid Goyim Pussy terminal for the rusty Wezterm. You might have to read some docs, but at least by the time you have 1000 lines in your wezterm.lua, you'll have some programming logic doing something useful to justify the bloat.
