i read online recently that the wii u console uses a beefed-up (but dated) tri-core revision of the PowerPC 750/G3 CPU from 1997. and somewhat similarly, the Xbox One X uses a modernized variant of the shit-tier Jaguar AMD cores from 2013. lastly, the TI-84+ CE calculator has an upgraded eZ80 CPU that is quite faster than the original Z80 used in grayscale calculators.

those are all the ones i'm aware of on the top of my head, though. basically the thing they all have in common is that they're severely "outdated" technologies somehow kept compatible/on life support by modernizations. i find that stuff really fascinating, but i'm not the best with technology. you guys know of any other cool stuff like that? sorry if this is a dumb thread

The TMS9900 cpu used the TI-99/4A made it the first 16-bit pc, but it only exposed 8kb of memory to the 16-bit bus. It's really a minicomputer cpu downspeced for the pc market

The Skynet T800 uses a neaural net processor which is an evolution of the early AI processors humans made.
