Hi everyone,

I want to share an update following my absence over the past few months.

I have encountered some challenges but the most serious one is that Microsoft terminated the account I have used for years to sign Windows drivers and the bootloader. You can see below a screenshot of the message shown when I tried to sign in.

Microsoft did not send me any emails or prior warnings. I have received no explanation for the termination and their message indicates that no appeal is possible.

I have tried to contact Microsoft through various channels but I have only received automated replies and bots. I was unable to reach a human.

This termination impacts my work beyond VeraCrypt and has consequences for my daily job.

Currently I'm out of options.

Regarding VeraCrypt, I cannot publish Windows updates. Linux and macOS updates can still be done but Windows is the platform used by the majority of users and so the inability to deliver Windows releases is a major blow to the project.

I'm open to proposals and help.

Veracrypt on windows is perhaps the single most security theater thing I can imagine. It is 2026, we do not need to talk abuot Veracrypt or Truecrypt on ./g/, it is a joke.

maybe try somewhere else honestly dude, we need computers to be secure (actually) and teh only realistic way to do that is on BSD/Linux with GNU Privacy Guard. Exactly like the 90's.

This is mostly because I want my data to be accessible on Windows machine too, since I mainly use a USB drive.
This said, I hope you can sort this out cause Veracrypt is goated software.

Good to know that veracrypt was safe.
As for bitlocker - It's actually free from back doors since mil and government use it.
However, for corporate use, the keys can be stored on the azure domain, and they extended this to their personal accounts where if you are not careful your key will be 'backed up for you' on your microsoft account.
I mean, what's wrong, you trust microsoft, right? You'd have to be to be using Windows in the first place. People who complain about bitlocker have some screws loose - You're already running windows. They already have the ability to suck up all your files and folders and send them wherever they want whenever you run it. The fuck do they need to backdoor the encryption for? You're stupid enough to just run windows for them.

To be honest, they should just automatically ban anyone who says stuff like "what do you have to hide" or "think of the children" and other nonsense like that.
>>
>>108556703
bitlocker is a joke and is conceptually the same as locking your front door but keeping the key right in front of it under the mat. there are experiments where people were able to exfil the bitlocker keys from pins on the motherboard and tpm during boot. as long as the bad actor steals your whole computer and not just the hard drive by itself, bitlocker is useless. it's akin to preparing to the case where your front door gets stolen and the mat is left behind, and you don't want them to be able to open it.
>>
>>108556738
The default bitlocker behaviour is insecure. It just unlocks automatically from TPM. There's no exfiltration needed, you just turn the computer on. You need to go into group policy editor to enable proper passwords, and even then I think their "enhanced PIN" caps out at 20 characters.

That's because you're a degenerate freak. With encryption, you, or a company, can exchange or dispose of old hard drives without any care. This is extremely important for anyone that has to deal with confidential client data.
>>
>>108558216
>feds are precedented to give over bitlocker keys
Only if you opt-in to save them to Microsoft for convenience. This option is appropriate for 95% of people, because their threat model doesn't include the FBI.

Microsoft isn't turning over bitlocker keys to Jamal when he steals your laptop.

There totally no disgruntled or drug-addicted people working at microsoft that would give up the keys to their buddy jamal for a quick high. Nor at the FBI.

>>108555951
Bitlocker only prevents niggers stole your hard drive, just because MS never tells key to niggers.

I don't need microsoft's permission to install anything.
What "application" or "drivers" would I EVER need to install? The internet is dead. Nothing interesting or novel has been created in ages, and I sure as hell don't play modernslop games. I do not need to comply with new HTTP-skirting web technologies to enable "DRM" or whatever. I have not installed a significant piece of new software in 15 years. Anything I need I can write myself. My keyboard is 43 years old. Can you even comprehend that? The device my fingers are touching right this second to communicate this message to you is old enough to be your father.

I have the portable version of Veracrypt on my desktop.
I never install programs like that, I go to their website and download the portable version, and it just works.
I also use keyfiles, and hidden volumes.
The reason for this security is simple. If I piss the feds/cops off, and they get my drives, they won't have access to my music, games, movies, TV shows, anime, cartoons, porn, text files, PDFs, and other information that can be used to build a psychological profile on me. It's the same reason I don't use Spotify, as Spotify can build a psychological profile on you based on your musical tastes.
I keep all of my data as obfuscated and hidden as possible. My email is used for vanilla business reasons only. I never use X, Facebook/IG, Tiktok, Snapchat, Telegram, Signal, Discord, or any other social media or chat programs, I never leave YT comments, I never play online games, and I never chat in livestreams.
I also intentionally feed false information back into the internet by browsing things I have no interest in, and even things I hate from time to time, so any internet usage fingerprinting has my tastes/personality vague and false.
