how the fuck do I unrape the bitrate on youtube nothing is remotely watchable on browser. Its fine on my phone since I have youtube revanced any way to alleviate this issue on browser

If you don't care about account functionality then you can always use an invidious instance (something like inv.nadeko.net) and set the DASH quality to 'best'. If you need your recommendation/subscription slop then I'm afraid I can't help you, unless you wantto make an invidious account.

browser defaults to AV1.
In theory AV1 should look best but youtube takes advantage of this codec and bitstarves the fuck out of it to save space on their servers.
VP9 is usually the best looking as a result and for older videos you should use AVC.
