What tweaks/tools/apps do you use to make it suck less?

>>108562173>>108562177Look at these rabid troons, it's insane. They're probably not even bots or paid shills, just loser cultists with nothing go on in their lives. >>108562161Disable the web search in the start menu, some of the tweak tools probably automate this but you can do it through registry. For some reason I don't think group policy exposes this option.https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/disable-windows-web-search

>>108562161Just use Win 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC with Startallback, mega comfy. Perfect OS.

>>108562331>Twinkle TrayNice anon, I was looking for something like this.
>>108562195stop playing anti cheat games. i am not being bombastic either. i say this as someone who has been gaming on loonix and windows since 2005 when i was 15. bouncing back and forth and finally came to the conclusion 6 years ago during the china virus that windows, wasn't worth it, for those games that just refuse to run on linux anymore. its not worth it man. and today, with the massive catalog that does run on linux, there are more than plenty of replacements for those, mostly anti cheat, that don't work.look, i get it, some of those anti cheat games are fun. but you have to ask yourself, is using windows truly worth it? maybe its me. its probably me. i don't find using windows worth it for anti cheat games. probably because i am old now and have fun enough with fallout, factorio, dune awakening, conan exiles, and cyberpunk. even wow classic from time to time.

install git bash with scoop or WSL
>>108562161install scoop. use scoop to install wpd and shutup10 (have to add extras bucket first) and as many other things you use as possible. not only does this vastly cut down on the amount of shit scattered everywhere and extraneous self-update tasks and services, it also makes reinstallinge everything after a windows install a lot easier if you just email your scoop list to yourself ahead of time. wpd and scoop do not have any functionality which will permanently break anything about your install, everything can be reverted easily by changing the option back to default since it's all just group policy and service toggles.>>108562274this is malware. it still installs chocolatey even if you tell it not to.
Install Gentoo
>>108562173I installed Bazzite and this shit is ass, what the fuck is the point of an immutable filesystem. Can't install anything unless it's from the app store, they retard-proofed the shit out of this for wintoddlers like linus techshits. Can't run a single command line utility, github repo, or pip package. But oh if a system upgrade fails I can easily restore my old version gee thanks, like I wasn't already using timeshift anywayTime to reinstall Debian
>>108562654bazzite is meant for living room pcs turned into consoles, handheld pcs, etc.it's not meant for desktop usebut the point of immutable distros is using podman containers and flatpaks with a base that doesnt breakdont use one myself but its a sound idea
>>108562672its funny how windows users pretend to be like "oh im a REAL hard worker so i need to use it" as if that argument was ever sound; nobody employed is doing work on their personal pc.it's always been a veil for them wanting to play dark pattern multiplayer slop like apex legends and valorant
>>108562654retard doesnt know about containers lmao
>>108562672My biggest argument is actually the paucity of professional software (no, not photoshop). It falls on deaf ears here though, because the concept of employment or actually engineering something is quite foreign to the distrohopping tard, please understand. The nice thing about Windows is the uncompromising selection of software the user enjoys.
>>108562688>nobody employed is doing work on their personal pcThe concept of an electrical engineer actually designing something at home... impossible!
>>108562709okay? so your company should have given you a company computer. unless you work for some messy company and make shit pay so they dont feel like giving you one
>Man wants Windows>Thread devolves into troons throwing a bitchfit about linuxNever change.
>>108562722>for some messy companyESL. I wonder what this jeet even means?
>>108562722Why would a richfag run linux at home?
>>108562736lol, there's nothing wrong with that. if youre doing work on a personal machine, you work for a messy company with poor practices>>108562740plenty do it. some people want their software to have privacy and respect them as a user
>>108562729There's no way to make a cucked OS tolerable. OP can't even mention what he specifically dislikes about it cause the whole design philosophy revolves around turning the user into a cog.The only way forward is to assist users with migration to a system that actually has their interests in mind.
>>108562729>>Man wants to do Heroin>>Thread devolves into troons throwing a bitchfit about not doing heroin
>>108562766>The only way forward is to assist users with migration to a system that actually has their interests in mind.Communist mind rot.
>>108562816>I'm saving people from Windows!
>>108562161don't try to find automated tools or scripts to debloat or remove telemetry. if something doesn't break immediately it will once a few a windows updates roll around and you're in some bootleg unsupported configuration. just manually go through and turn off all the shit that pops up as it annoys you using group policies if you have to.
>>108562827
>>108562766>a system that actually has their interests in mind.Yy-you don't need that. You just don't OK!? WE KNOW BEST. Would you be interested in a FREE helicopter ride?
>>108562853>>108562825You're defending Windows in a thread about Windows sucking, you already lost.
>>108562766such a system(d) doesnt exist. the way(land) forward is going back to windows unironically.
>>108562701Okay so what software do you use? You just say you use software that isn’t compatible but you don’t list any applications so I can’t actually see if that’s actually the case.
just install the OS then uninstall/disable shit as it annoys you. you should not be heavily customizing windows. keep it default with annoying shit disabled. you can make the desktop background one of those anime girls you guys love so much but that’s it.
>>108563023>see if that’s actually the casePretty presumptuous for you to assume you know better than the user. I think you missed your calling as a commissar who found reasons to deny import licenses and instead directed ‘comrades’ to inferior domestic products. I’ve seen how these conversations usually go and reply is one of these:>You don’t need that, use X instead (where X is almost always some shoddy incomplete hobby project)>Use Wine or a VM and just run it in linux>I don’t know anyone that uses that, or needs that, so you don’t either. Maybe you can use python idk?Fundamentally, the point you miss is that linux doesn’t add any value to a person if it involves even a single extra step or pain point to the process.
>>108562974>winfag shitting on systemdpot, kettle, etc
>>108563056Okay so either you don’t actually know any programs that aren’t compatible or you’re intentionally dodging the question because you’re a shill. One last chance, tell me what programs you use for your “work” or fuck off.
>>108563072>One last chance,Or what? HAHAHAHA.
>>108562161Right click uninstall.Toggle the settings I don't want.
>>108563087It still baffles me that Microsoft pays people to shill their worthless garbage here and they can’t even be fucking bothered write up a half decent script, just pathetic. Whatever, I’m sure you’ll be in the next thread regurgitating the same bullshit like we don’t all recognize you for what you are.
You can Tron your Windows (serious reply). Search for the Tron script, should be on reddit. It gets rid of everything that it can to make windows suck less.
>>108562161Haha, what a dumbass!

>>108562218I have met anti-Linux and anti-FOSS people. They are always failed it guys that have big ego, but are actually non-tech-savvy. The hate starts when school or work forces them to learn Linux and other people laugh at them when they can't even use it. This starts life long hate because they finally figured out that they are not tech-savvy or "power user". There is many consumers, e-celebs and reviewers who actually thought they are tech-savvy. Linus or some other non-tech-savvy consumer just buying a new phone or GPU or installing a driver doesn't make them anything else than butthurt non-tech-savvy consumer. Also WinTroon and macTroon have worse DEI code of conduct, worse cuck license, npc sheep slave propriterary code and everything else is worse. Doesn't matter if you dislike LGBT or SystemD/Wayland, those WinTroon and macTroon have it 1000 times worse and also without any alternatives or solutions for anything.
>>108564557i didn't know links could be gay yet here we are
>>108564563the downward slope part of the dunning-kruger effect is really hard to overcomei have actual microsoft certifications from before i switched to linux fully, and it wasn't until i was more comfortable with linux than windows that i realised just how little those meant. at this point i can't scarcely tell the difference between consumer and certified confidence in windows
>>108564856There is no downward slope part of the dunning-kruger effect. People correctly rank themselves, not perfectly corresponding with a hammered result curve is irrelevant to anything.
>>108564563Dude, using Linux is not complicated. The problem with people like you is that you've never worked in IT and your whole personality boils down to using an OS. Constantly tinkering and tweaking useless shit that doesn't matter at all.People who do actual work know that every tool is good for something and just use that.
>>108566084This elusive "real work" that people keep referencing. All I can imagine is that you mean Visual Studio IDE jockying or Microsoft Office stuff. Microsoft had to embed a gimped Linux inside itself with WSL just to get Docker working. Virtualization just sucks on Windows. There isn't some great a Windows selling point like how FreeBSD has jails, bhyvie, zfs on root. The only advantage Windows has is more corporate software, it being preinstalled on new computers, and inertia. Not to mention forced updates. You can turn off multiple different services in the registry and it'll still slowly undo those changes, as of turning off the Updater and the Doctor for the updator wasn't enough. I also dislike how installing applications that are basically spyware is way more acceptable on Windows and even the norm.
