>Japan’s Minister for Digital Transformation Hisashi Matsumoto has declared the nation will become the easiest place in the world to develop AI apps, thanks to legal changes that mean organizations won’t need to secure consent to use some personal information.
>To make that happen, Japan’s government on Tuesday approved amendments to the nation’s Personal Information Protection Act that remove the requirement for opt-in consent before sharing personal data.
>The changes only apply to data that poses little risk of infringing individuals’ rights, and when developers use it to compile statistics for research purposes. Even health-related data comes under the amendments, if it can improve public health.
>Facial scans are also fair game. The amendments require those who acquire facial images to explain how they handle the data, but offering a chance to opt out won’t be mandatory.
>Collecting the image of a child aged under 16 will require parental approval, a “best interests” test will apply when considering use of data that describes minors.
>But in the event of a data leak, organizations will not need to notify impacted citizens if there is little risk of harm to individuals.

the EU is next if they want to enter the social media and AI market, otherwise submit to American mega corporations
at this point my gov and spying on me is better than other govs is the new trend
>>
i can see the vision
instead of being forced to use foreign AI that will steal data, make your own AI. you sacrifice citizen personal data to domestic developers instead of foreign ones
>>

>my gov and spying on me is better than other govs is the new trend
Shouldn't it be the opposite? Other governments spying on me is better than my government doing it.
>>
>>108570818
They're inviting foreign AI companies to invest there, not encouraging domestic companies. The idea is AI for better domestic use (better in Japanese language and customs) not domestically developed AI.
PM Takaichi had a meeting with Peter Thiel not too long ago.

>Japan relaxes its AI hole
>>
>>108570818
The wording suggests they're trying to make themselves attractive to budding AI outfits that need data. It's not necessarily in the interest of fostering domestic efforts.

>EU must rape their own people because burgers and japs are raping their own people
Two of the most legendarily KEKED countries on earth are being retarded, thats not our problem.

Japan has no AI researchers.
>>
>>108570778
Bit late to the party.

With this and the being more open to migrants makes me wonder why Takaechi is so popular. She's doing two things that the average Japanese pwerson had got to hate.
Gotta be just the voter is ignorant or something.

Hey you said they had no AI researches. I pointed a company out there that does that.
Just learn to admit you're wrong in technicality if not in spirit.

they are already working on watering down the GDPR

deepseek is straight up fucking useless
the yanks are the only ones with good ai
>>
>>108570812
The GDPR was one of the worst anti-laws in recent history that cost billions of economic growth.
All it did was hamstring EU tech companies (the few ones we still had) and fine the local bakery because their CCTV covered 0.0001cm of a public sidewalk meanwhile big corporations slap a cookie banner on their website and still collect your data while pinky promising they don't (what are you going to do, look at Google's servers?)
>>
>>108571835
>what are you going to do, look at Google's servers?
and even if they did, the fine would be so small for them that its worth taking the risk anyways
>>
>>108570778
This sounds bad on every single front. How does this benefit the Japanese citizens in any way?
>>
>>108571693
Them being good wasn't a qualifier he set forth.

It's wild that some people can't how AI shit and government surveillance are joined at the hip. That goes for both normies and /g/fags. If you support AI, you support the surveillance state as well.

>>108571877
Can't see how, rather.

>>
>>108571858
They can use AI trained on Japanese data which will increase productivity and ease of use.
>>
>>108570778
how about they relax their insane copyright and censorship laws first
>>
>>108571821
No, deepseek is the most reliable model I have found. It is also free, allows you to fully run locally if you have the compute power, and allows you to block sharing convo if you are running the online model. I am not insane so I do not get my history nor news from AI sources, so I do not have to worry about the whinnie the pooh censorship, although you can repeal that too with the local model.

Japan is in a desperate financial situation, so they are trying this, which is stupid, because stuff like deepseek proves you can spend insane amounts of money on AI and then some dude takes your work and makes it worthless.
