Aerochads we fucking WON. Plasma 6.7 is gonna bring back the Oxygen and Air themes. The age of soulless flatshit is coming to an end.

It looks tacky. Frutiger Aero faux nostalgia is for zoomies who never used a computer that wasn't a macbook or a chromebook

None which is precisely why it's manufactured nostalgia.
Using XP and 7 all I wanted was something else than the default. It got me into shit like visual themes, replacing shells and fucking with system files just for that reason. A lot of people liked the ricing part of linux.

Fpbp

Every single Linux distribution I’ve ever seen, even Mint, looks like a Ditto that can’t complete its transformation. It’s so fascinating. Ununtu seems to be the only one that has some semblance of its own DNA.
>>
>>108573194
>which is precisely why it's manufactured nostalgia
Right, because people born from 1995-2005 never saw a computer once in their lives until 2011, when the original Chromebooks launched. For the first 6 to 16 years of one's life, the zoomer simply never saw a computer, and would have had no exposure to non-flat GUI's.

Take the tampon out of your pussy. /g/ is the only place I've seen anyone bitch about the floating taskbar on Plasma. It looks fucking cool and it clamps back down to the bottom when your window is maximised anyway. You can turn it off entirely if it makes your vagina hurt. And a 40~ pixel tall taskbar is what Windows has had since 7.

Yeah I was born in 2003 and I can even remember using Windows XP for a while; though most of my childhood I was on Windows 7. Call it nostalgia if you want, but it's far from manufactured. I remember a few of my friends and I hated 10 when it came out. Most of us stayed with 7 as long as we could, then got into Linux.

>>
gross
fucking hell how many years of blur has it been already?
>>
>>108574192
It's not simple because of
1. Padding
2. Applications that have their own weird decorations
You can't just make Dolphin look like Windows explorer, for example.
>>
>>108574192
It reminds me. There was a time when Microsoft did a logo so good, Google stole it (for the repackaged open source browser they called Chrome and turned into a spyware).
>>
>>108573117
>Aerochads we fucking WON
GNOME had a theme 16 years ago for this. you fuckers lost already
https://www.gnome-look.org/p/1014358/
>>
>>108574249
What is hard about padding? Look at win7, look at KDE. KDE lacks padding. Literally. You can't point your mouse at active elements easily, it takes way more effort. In win7 they have more padding and less problems even. Although scaling for large res was not good, but it was no designed for that, so it's a flaw caused by age, not pre existing since release, like it is with KDE.
And do you remember how unhinged apps became in terms of design after Microsoft switched out WinForms for WPF? Compare office suite 2003 and 2007. Or 3rd party software like adobe's. It became sooooo good looking since win7 and WPF. Maybe did not age very well, but it was good.
And Dolphin was shit and is shit. Rows in the left side bar are so narrow it's hard to click them. Rest of it's UI feels overcomplicated while solving no new problems.

Really, the only flaw to aero imho was the black text in the titlebar. Little hard to read at times. That and not having a dark mode.

It's pretty impressive how resilient Windows 9x theming can be. This looks awesome on a 1080p screen.
>>
>>108574318

>>
>>108574318
I'm not sure what's hard about it but these people are not really into consistency.
I think the problem is there's just no good UX people over these projects. They just grab the first motherfucker.
>>108574348
I liked it a lot because of how customizable it was without breaking a single fucking thing. This was my shit. I want this back, not the fucking aero glass.
>>
>>108574370
>I think the problem is there's just no good UX people over these projects.
this is a problem in every FOSS project, they all look like trash because they don't have a good designer who actually knows good UX/UI
>>
>>108574370

Exactly! It was really customizable and didn't break shit. If only we could have this back.

>>108574381

It's kinda bizarre, isn't it? You'd think someone out there gives a rip about how Linux looks. But maybe they all are content with Windows/Mac and need nothing else. I know I see no incentive to get involved with Linux.

"Designers" are retarded hurd animals. Fashion trends are so fucking stupid, I've been using linux since 2005 and this screenshot looks like it could have been taken in April 2006 exactly 20 years ago. I hate these stupid dumb trend following soulless assholes, like "ohhhh this is so cool now, the fashion from last year is so uncool now, now we've got something cool and new (rehashed shit from 20 years ago, except done worse) we're so cool and original and expert designers for coming up with this (rehashing vista style after 20 years because apple made it COOL again with Liquid Ass) tl;dr you need a designer in the loop.". Is picrelated supposed to be appealing? This isn't aero, this is flatshit with aero paint. It's like you took a screenshot of a flatshit design and then downloaded pngs of aero elements and photoshopped them over it. Why the fuck is everything padded by half a mile? Why are the icons like 2px? Everything about this is obnoxious.
This is the just like the "Oh my science we're going to be roleplay as a functioning UI and copy Apple's thing where if you wiggle your mouse the cursor gets big" but the trannies in charge didn't realize they can't scale a PNG. It just shows that no one in charge actually knows how to make a UI.
No one's going to use this, some tranny's going to post it on Reddit, get a few updoots from it and subsequently 41% himself after someone calls out how shit it is.
