Openh264 had a severe vulnerability which went unpatched for months because of some legal issues. You can see the maintainers discussing it here

https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org/thread/MU3IKREOMSVS6RRAJEV7EGQKTHLCFYKH/

It looks like with Fedora you never know when some critical security patch will be held back because the lawyers haven't signed off on it. Even Debian which is memed for slow updates pushed the fix way faster. Fedora doesn't seem very secure if something like this can happen.

which went unpatched for months in Fedora*

Once I learned that Red Hat employees just do their work from Mac, I realized it was over to treat even Fedora as a burgeoning Windows alternative.

I'm sticking with my configured Windows11, just works and runs everything.

That's basically all Linux maintainers. If you go to any kind of Linux conference it's going to be 90% macintooshies.

Kek, meanwhile they basement user struggles to get Wifi and Sleep working while defending them for FREE on the internet.

Main issue with linux is that it's not the privacy safe heaven newfags think it is. Kernel is maintained by kikes. Red hat has RND center in pissrahell just like windows, google or apple.

>>108576772
doesn't matter. would you rather drink piss every day or eat 10 pounds of shit every day?
>>
>>108576776
Well the only hope for now is that Huawei will fix their shit together, and actually make 3/4nm CPU with english huawei next OS localization. I am done with kikes and their machiavellian games.

how many signs do (You) need to move off of software bound by American law? the whole codec shit in Fedora should've been raising massive alarms already.
>>

>Openh264
use it from flatpak
>>

OpenSUSE is German and has the codec issue too. In fact its even worse because they have some weird repo syncing issues whereas Fedora doesn't.

Copyright was a mistake.
Embrace copyleft.

most linux developers at red hat do actually use fedora. im sure HR, executives, etc. use macbooks but red hat employees have talked about it multiple times and the majority of them use fedora. then RHEL, then mac. you're retarded if you think they'd rather develop linux somewhere other than linux
>my configured Windows11
nvm youre retarded and biased
>>
>>108577198
It’s real in my mind.
>>
>>108577198
>biased
I am biased to whatever works the best, with the least friction. I am not paid to tinker with and find work around a system that Red Hat treats as a hobby.

and we dont care. you arent special for using windows, your blatantly false and loosely relevant input added nothing to the topic.

Maybe this isn't the point, but it's fixed now:

https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2025-27091
>This vulnerability affects OpenH264 2.5.0 and earlier releases. Both Scalable Video Coding (SVC) mode and Advanced Video Coding (AVC) mode are affected by this vulnerability. OpenH264 software releases 2.6.0 and later contained the fix for this vulnerability. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.

rpm -q openh264
openh264-2.6.0-2.fc43.x86_64

This is on Fedora Workstation 43.

hes right we dont care. get off this board and rope

You may follow a collective around, but YOU are not even part of it. Just a camp follower. We really don't want you. Contribute code or money and we'll reevaluate you.

why are you posting something from a year ago
>>
>>108576626
Don't care. Fedora still just works.
>>
>>108577198
a good part of /g/ doesn't know what containers or VMs are, or have never used them, and think that if they're not all using stinkpads then they're not actual linux developers
