Is there a way to remove my password from Linux? No one else uses my PC anyway and it's full of Hentai and Porn anyway. No need for a password.
>>108577048you know realize the everyone uses notes/manuals/ai to do anything that isn't routine. no one remembers how to fully configure a custom iptables ruleset off the top of their head other than maybe a few sysadmin janitors.the only caveat to ai is that you just need to verify what it's doing before you apply it.

>>108577158Tell me something about your distro, anon. Can you game on it? Steam + Proton, emulators, Lutris, etc? Can you make it look good? That IceWM+ROX setup looks positively ancient and not in a nostalgic retro sort of way.Have the devs said anything about the recent age verification shit?

And Linux/Unix FTP daemons were always massively faggy.
sudo passwd -d $USER
>>108577290Skill issue. FTP is easier to set up than directory listing with HTTP.
>>108577184The sane way to do this is to enable passwordless login in your display manager and, if you really insist, add NOPASSWD to your sudoers file.
>>108577566>enable passwordless login in your display managerdoes this not mean his gnome keyring or kde wallet will not get unlocked automatically?
>>108577601PAM should still allow you to do this, clunky setup aside.
>>108577534>FTP is easier to set up than directory listing with HTTPSure, Linux/Unix daemons are easy when you want system accounts as FTP accounts but no home user wants that. What everyone does they want to give the FTP server arbitrary user:pass logins without such logins existing in the system. And my use case wouldn't even involve user accounts to begin with.I find dir listing with HTTP much easier. And HTTP is way snappier too.>>108577566One could sudo with picrel. Done that, works.

>>108577942What do containers have to do with any of this?
>>108578005You sound like you have about 5 containers running on a 'home server'. Possibly a SBC. At least 3 of them are for utterly trivial services like DNS.
>>108578044No, I'm opposed to all that. It's actually a Wi-Fi-router-box that fetches *some stuff* on a daily basis and I wish to share those directories with a desktop. Not fetching the stuff using the desktop as the router also uses the stuff.

Why are distros a thing? Why can't we just glue together official upstream binaries to make a working Linux system? I know that many upstream projects don't ship "official binaries" in the first place and instead leave packaging to distros, but why?
>>108576714How do I get spoonfed on how to use Sway?>wanting to be spoonfedI'm honestly never gonna learn it unless my hand is held, I'm so wiped out after work all I do is sleep.
>>108578301If I had to guess its because its a pain in the ass to do and a lot of work for someone with free time to do. Think about how many people would have to maintain their specific binaries making sure that when 1 updates they all update and keep compatibility, it would be a nightmare.

is there a way to fix blurry text if I use fractional scaling? 1440p monitors are so fucking big I should have stayed on 1080p
>>108578614I had that problem as well and I honestly forget the fix for it, but it is fixable through the display I just forget how I did it.

Why tf is COSMIC withholding HDR support until Epoch 3 in Q4 2026? I want to use it so bad but I'm not going to if you're not going to support my monitor. SDR sucks.Anyways, Solus or cachyOS for gayming? I want a blend of stability and performance without going immutable (Bazzite).ty frens

>>108578919Stability is a memeCachyOS is a fast as Arch but training wheels for babies, go with that for a no worries distro that only focus in good performance running games.
