Which position would you choose, and why? Facing the door, or facing the window?

I am still undecided on it, at night, facing the door is a more appealing choice, during the day, the opposite

Back to the wall so I can't be snuck up on my the gnomes while I'm gooning.
>>
neither tbqh.
I would rotate the desk 90 degrees so I can sit with my back to the big wall, being able to see both the window and the door
>>
>>108580738
I am not allowed to rearrange the furniture.
>>
>>108580743
is this an office space? the vibes gave me more residential building
like the curtains and everything
>>
>>108580738
Yeah, I've tried that setup as well. Cant really remember why I ended up not liking it either. It gets complicated with cable management or something like that.

I think theres a power socket behind the curtain, but no ethernet outlet, so I strapped a white flat ethernet cable to the white thing next to the floor, but it was still somehow unaesthetic

but maybe I need to explore this option again
>>
>>108580757
he's trolling, hes not me
>>
>>108580757
It's my space. I can do anything I want in it, except rearrange the furniture, or leave.
>>
>>108580760
this guy isn't me, either
>>
>>108580758
>It gets complicated with cable management or something like that.
i agree that's probably harder
but my back facing a door or a window gives me some primal fear that a sabre tooth tiger is going to jump me at any moment
>>
>>108580726
first so people sneaking in can't see your screen and just assume you're doing super serious spreadsheets and email and not wasting tine on the web.
>>
>>108580770
which wall did you mean? the one in the picture or the opposing wall?
>>
Ideally >>108580738

Otherwise >>108580726

If this is a shared space, then I can't have people being able to see my screen. It feels like they're hijacking my brain and I can't focus on anything except the possibility that they might be looking at me / my screen. It's slightly better if they can only see me but not my screen. Also, judging from how monochrome everything looks... Finland?
>>
its not a shared space, it's my home office and I bought too much garbage ikea furniture
>>
>>108580765

>>
>>108580726
I think you need to find another apartment, because this one is impossible to position right.
>>
>>108580728
put in a floor mount light with a warm bulb, that piece of trash is fucking grim. And something ruglike on the floor. Then get married or acquire a gf, anything that means someone is there to prevent you choosing desks ever again. Do not buy black desks. Ever.
>>
>>108581033

Yes I feel so too. They designed it like crap

>>108580728
Where are all the empty beer cans. Where is your nest. Where is the clothespile.
Your bedroom sucks.
>>
>>108580932
I think my other apartment is much better (also not perfect) than this one. Fucking garbage
>>
>>108580726
I would angle it so you're not facing the window directly but you still have natural light in your field of view. I find this just makes more sense including in my own setup. Facing a wall always causes me to get a little stir crazy/anxious after a long enough time whereas with the window I can just look up and have natural light relax me
>>
>>108580726
>>108580728
I swear that space is the closest thing to actual liminal space I know. I've seen it in so many configuration in so many different pictures. Never actually lived in or in use. What is going on with that place?
>>
>>108580726
I wouldn't choose anything. I would listen to what they had to say and that's what no one did.
>>
>>108581673
I am trying to figure out the best configuration but I feel it's damned
>>
>>108581638

>>
>>108581984
It has to come from the heart.
>>
>>108580728
this and push the desk all the way to the wall
this is my current situation, peeking trough the window is a nice break from the screen
the other option mean you have to keep the curtain closed to avoid glare as well
>>

>>
>>108582020

objectively false
>>
>>108582019
Tried that as well, it doesn't quite work sitting that close to that piece of wall, it casts a shadow on half your face
>>
>>108582054
Depends on the material, but often times literally true, even though I guess it's figurative
>>
Seems like the energy flow of your arrangement is faulty. Wtf is that dining table? You shat out couple of desks without even thinking and made a thread about your situation.
>>
>>108580726
that's matan's podcast studio
>>
>>108582086
>matan
Who?
>>
>>108580726
You need professional help. You have been moving around like 3 pieces of furniture in an empty room for years now.
>>
>>108582079
That's not a dining table, but a conference table, according to the IKEA catalog
>>
>>108580726
By the window, as close as possible so as much daylight and view is in peripheral vision.
>>
>>108582127
It seems you are vastly overestimating the capacity of "professional help"
>>
>>108580726
Having a window behind you causes horrible glare on your screen.
The corner desk should be angled for that reason alone.

Being able to look outside the window is a plus, although I don't get the impression the view from that window is much to look at.
Also nice to get some sunlight on your face.

Facing the door can be distracting if people enter the room often but facing the other way offers less privacy.
You might even want to add a barrier to shield the working desks from the table and the door.
Could be a tall cabinet for example.

I think I am going back to this type of configuration. It means strap a white flat ethernet cable to those white boards on the wall at the floor level and reaching the desk from the left side

This is for illustration, will put a slightly larger desk with solid oak top so it will brighten up the room

But just comment on the layout idea

This is the problem about the otherwise clear winning layout. It's a bitch to hide this ethernet cable. I used a flat one and cable clips to stick it to the wall thing

But still
>>
>>108582491
Exactly why I use WiFi in my office.

But another thing you can do is get a carpet and run the cable under it.
Just punch a small hole in the carpet to get the cable out, perhaps covering the hole with a plant.
Carpets also improve acoustics and just look comfy.

If a carpet is too expensive you can also get a rubber gutter so people at least won't trip over the Ethernet cable.

Also I would put the desks next to the window and the meeting table further back, assuming you spend most time working at your desk and the table is only used occasionally.
Maximize your sunlight exposure so you don't en up offing yourself.

Fucking hell is this schizo still doing this shit? Why are there so many schizos on this fucking shitty ass board?

>>
>>108582566
>Exactly why I use WiFi in my office.
Understandable.

However, I have been committed to no wifi etc for years and intend to keep that up. Carpets are a usable trick. But it's the part sticking out the wall that is most problematic. Maybe put something in front of it
>>
You are utterly soulless.
>>
>>108582597
This shit is making me deeply unhappy. One day I will get a house with perfect layout office room

I got this apartment as a new construction so I could have opted with nice shiny white tiles or something classy like that. But I didn't give a damn back then and now I have these ugly ass Grey tiles

Fucking shit what was I thinking

I'd face the door so I could see danger coming. And I'd be closer to the window if I ever suddenly wanted to jump out of it.
>>
>>108582914

>>

How long have you been at this, OP?
I think it might be time to accept that no configuration will ever be perfect, and just live with the setup that is closest. You have some kind of desk arrangement OCD that doesn't permit you to do this, of course.

>>108584007
Nice. Can you do more memes with the other pics?

Let's try again. Just use any configuration.
Your current strategy results in zero use of the room. Using any configuration would result in use of the room. Therefore, using a random configuration is more effective than your current strategy.

You should not place monitor facing window directly. Neither should you be facing the window directly.

NEXT QUESTION
>>
>>108588150
Just so you know, only third worlders have tiles outside of the kitchen and bathroom. That's because it is cheaper than wood/laminate, easier to install and easier to clean/maintain. If a tile breaks you just replace the one that broke. There's absolutely nothing "classy" about having tiles in your living room, den, home office, bedroom, etc.
>>
>>108588182
Since when are ceramic tiles cheaper than compressed wooden waste materials with plastic lamination on top of it?
But I do agree that having everything ceramic is tasteless. It's exactly because it used to be very expensive in the past.
>>
>>108580726
I would sit at the corner, facing away from the curtains, just like in the photo.
It gives me a full view of the room
