this is the distro for all the mouthbreathers who cant read instructions
you master baiter
it's arch deluxe
>Manjaro > Endeavour > CachyNext one?
Contrary to popular belief, ease of use is not just for people who lack the ability to do things.
>>108584333>mouthbreathers who cant read instructionsBut enough about yourself
>>108584363there won't be one unless cachyos devs fumble the bagthey already have the fastest growing and the biggest distro on their hands

>>108584486terrible analogies. configuring your system goes hand in hand with using it when it comes to computers. whether youre installing programs, changing settings, trying to play some niche game... etcand ironically your first example is pretty true. obviously not building from scratch, just like we dont use Linux From Scratch, but knowing the inner workings and parts of your car DOES make you a better driver both in terms of driving mechanics, like understanding front wheel vs rear wheel drive, axle power distribution, and how transmissions work. AND in terms of safety. you know how your car works and its parts, so you can feel issues and diagnose them before things get dangerous
>>108584470I think CachyOS is pretty cool and a level above the usual "Arch but with a GUI installer and gay wallpaper" we've seen a million times so farit is a valid mald thoughever, all these Cachys and Manjaros and Endeavours and whatever the fuck else have made virtually any online Arch discussion platform unusable and flooded with Indians posting bullshit and clueless help vampires
>>108584470>Is the CachyOS opposition maulding Arch fags who resent new comers invading their space? I can’t keep up with the drama.Pretty much. Because Windows has been jeetifying at an alarming rate since 11 (or 10 if you are more critical) Linux is getting a lot of refugees these days and they gravitate towards the easy to install distros as well as "gaming just werks" ones and Cachy is both of those. Many refugees are too dumb to look anything up and flood communities asking questions that reveal they don't know even the most basic aspects of the operating system they are on. Installing arch manually at least makes sure you have above room temp IQ and can follow instructions. That being said there is nothing wrong with being able to do that and still using CachyOS or anything you damn well please if it comes with defaults you enjoy. It's just that retards are annoying and also some level of elitism is generally considered good to deter retards because if normalfags flood the ecosystem then corporations will be next (yes, they already very much exist in the space but not to a malicious degree yet... probably).
>>108584544I appreciate CachyOS performance optimizations.I fucking hate that it comes pre-riced.If I wanted to use fish like a fucking hipster I would install it myself.

>>108584518>You don't have to build a car to know the inner workings but knowing them is beneficialAgreed. Just like you don't have to install Arch manually to learn how it works but you should learn about it.

>>108584569>making access easy is a slippery slope every timeI was too young to see the internet “DIE” when AOL mailed out disks/CDs, but I certainly witnessed the destruction the iPhone delivered in 2007 when it tore down all barriers to the internet; we’ve never recovered.
>>108584386So who's next? It's a volunteer project by people doing it for fun suddenly finding themselves 100x more responsible than they anticipated. The core team is going to inevitably burn out and fuck up/off
>>108584449I installed arch manually before I knew what a package manager is. It took me 7 years to learn to put ./ in front of executables to run them
>>108584577and that's the thing. the majority of people going to cachyos are doing it because its supposed to be "easy arch". you only need to install your system once. taking an hour to read a wiki and do it yourself should not be a big deal. it only is if youre genuinely incompetent and lack attention span. and then these people are going to be coming to linux with the PRIMARY intention of running windows programs under a compatibility layer. so youre going to have people trying to run some niche modding program for some game under wine and shitting up forums asking why it isnt working when they dont even have the technical know how to try running it in the terminal instead of just clicking the icon over and over, let alone searching for logs or googling error codes and reading something to fix it.
>>108584604it would be really hard for them to do thatworst case scenario everything cachyos could just be folded into arch and put on their reposfundamentally all cachyos really is is a set of preinstalled utilitiesyou could just redirect cachyos hello utility to pull from arch repos and now you've kept pretty much everything it does, with its package installer and kernel manager
>>108584618>onceI see you've never nuked your X server as a noob.At that stage starting over is easier than doing basic troubleshooting since you're practically a normie and a black screen with white text scares you.

>>108584333>No... NOOOOO!!!!! It just works!!!! And it works better than muh hand-optimized Arch piss because it's not compiled for 20 year old processors. This. Cannot. Stand. I must do something. I know: I will make a thread on /g/ saying that everyone who uses it it is just STUPID! Yeah, if you use a Linux distro that works, you are missing the point. Desktop getting is about getting frustrated that nothing works, then doing a drastic fix that almost fixes your issue, but creates 20 new ones.
>>108584652true but then you can just repeat the process very very quickly>>108584682>>getting frustrated that nothing works, then doing a drastic fix that almost fixes your issue, but creates 20 new ones.so youre the kind of bumbling retard that relies on others for everything
>>108584671Okay, I'll bite: How were you not able to figure it out or look it up for that long? How were you running executables, from a file manager?
>>108584709I am the "bumbling retard" that just wants the computer to do what I say. I don't have the time to spend alll my afternoons fixing issues that shouldn't exist. I can do that, I've spent my youth doing that, I'm done with it.
>>108584709I generally don't suggest Arch-bases distros to normies. Mint is easy and has every solution to a normie-tier problem floating around already.
>>108584733okay retard, but here's the thing: cachyos doesnt change that. and thats the problem. its literally just a GUI installer of arch with a few tweaks made. you will run into the EXACT same issues you would on regular arch, retard. do you think cachyos is some magical distro that makes everything just work? do you even use linux at all? and to begin with, dont try playing that "i dont have the time" card when this distro is gaymer focused shit
>>108584747You just keep pissing and shitting your pants and malding because any retard (is there a mirror in your room or why is that word constantly on your mind) can now have a distro better than your handrolled arch shit. Feel free to be incredibly proud of yourself for being able to type the commands the arch wiki gave you. Nobody else but you could have done that. Truly, you are the mind of a generation.
>>108584769so you didnt refute anything i said, you genuinely did believe cachyos is magical and solves all your problems for you LOLit really does just come back to you being too retarded to read a wiki for half an hourim not sure why youre still here trying to defend your gaymer retard distro, i thought you said you dont have the time in your life anymore? or is that just because you play addictive slop all day
>>108584769>type the commands the arch wiki gave youThe joke here is that many fail at this stage.
>>108584333Cachyos is not easy
>>108585489it is easiER and that's what pseuds are upset aboutdon't you know you need to be an expert on linux to follow an arch wiki article and to pacman all the stuff you'd get out of the box or install through their utility or package installer?
>>108585489It's pretty easy. I haven't had any problems with it that I couldn't solve in less than 5 minutes.
>>108584371This. Why make things harder than they need to be.
>>108584333It's crazy how retards single-handedly created an industry for "Arch but easier to install." Countless distros have came and went and it all ends the same, eventually the company shits the bed and everyone goes "wow Arch sucks." Learn 2 compute or install Ubuntu/Mint fags.
Linux is for troons and low iq neckbeards. Real white men use OpenBSD.
>>108587828cuck license
>>108584333>pacman>cachyos package installer>shelly>discover>archupdate5 different ways to update packages built in, and I had to use flatpak cli to install anything.
>>108584422Thank you for proving my point.Linux is about having a different philosophy from being a mouthbreathing proprietary slop consumer. Not about being complicated or simple.
>>108584371indeed, that's why I use Fedora. If I wanted to use Arch Linux, I would install Arch Linux
The sheer amount of seething over a preconfigured arch installation just because it's popular is palpable, kek
>>108588054Found the aforementioned mouth breather.
This is the distro that works and it makes you seethe because it's popular
CachyOS is probably the most no-nonsense distro these days. It's arch with different defaults, it can mostly be reverted back to that state, unlike a lot of derivativesIt's bleeding edge but by default provides a very simple snapshot rollback system with installs/updates hooked to itIt provides as much freedom as needed for anyone who wants to diddle with it and it doesn't do anything overcomplicated (it's not immutable and the update schedule is the same as arch)It saves a lot of time in the install process with mostly sane defaultsAlmost everything in the AUR works the same as it would on Arch (unlike a certain other derivative that's been dogshit for years)Its community isn't a bunch of faggots sitting in a discord putting out fires, there's no microsoft employees eitherThe overlap with arch is such that you'll have trouble finding anything in the arch wiki that doesn't apply to it the exact same wayArch is practically pointless in this day and age unless you have ghetto tier hardware or you can't find a purpose in your life and you need to spend more and more time tinkering.
>>108585489Its easy and Arch, the secret club seethes. The year of the Linux is here, Linux is 100% usable for a normal user.
