>pretty much every technological innovation over the last 10-15 years seems to make our lives worse, not better
i'm not even a luddite, but why is this? it wasn't like this in the eighties, nineties, or naughties
>>
that's just how the world works now

we let communists and liberals take over everything and this is what they do, they make everything worse

Businesses found out how to monetize the internet

I wish we let the communists take over everything, it's just the liberals.

Once you crush the competition you can just kill the quality and maximize profits. Companies were able to consolidate and now only a handful compete among themselves every once in a while, while the rest of the time they just maintain the status quo and enjoy the profits through price fixing.
>>
>>108585783
because the purpose of technology is not to make our lives easier, it is to make businesses able to cut costs and make more money
once you realize this everything makes sense

Some people legitimately think old and bad are interlinked.
Like >>108586141 this. Cavemen solved the wheel. But the wheel is old, and old is bad.
Does it work? That's not what I asked. I asked if it's old because old is bad. Proven and mature is bad.
We need change, because change is new, and new is good. It justifies why you hired me to design for your company and product.
If I don't change something then why would you pay me, change is always good, right?

You see this especially in the tech sector.
Non-programmers will literally look at 2 repos, one updated 4 years ago and 1 patched 4 times a day, and some will call the one receiving daily patches to be "active", "healthy", "alive", "maintained", etc. as if it's a good thing for software, cars, machines, etc. to receive daily maintenance instead of working flawlessly for 4 years straight uninterrupted.

Nobody can fucking measure or analyze so they go around shooting feet, both their own and yours.

more leg space
less material
maybe some minor advantage in knowing how far you've turned (similar to how home row keys on a keyboard have the little nub sticking out)

downside is it seems awkward to use if you are actually turning that far since your hands could grasp for something not there
also you lose the leg space when you turn that far

mostly it's probably just a visual gimmick to differentiate from others

the car chassis is designed to crumple to absorb energy in an impact so it doesn't get transferred into the occupants
>>
>>108585783
this is completely true. I worked in IT for 25 years and then as a hobby going back to 1985 and yes I have watched everything become harder and slower to do.

things grind to a halt now if computers don't work. touch screens have made cars dangerous death traps. I refuse to talk to my phone. speaking of which doing anything on a phone is a slog. when I try to use this site on a phone I want to take a hostage.

I only use my phone when I absolutely need to.

don't get me started on how fucking stupid AI is and how much it lies and makes shit up.

my company is doing 3-5 hours of mandatory "how to use AI" meetings every week. your post reminded me of a recent one where they showcased voice->text->llm->voice as if any of that shit is new or valuable in any way
>>
>>108586295
This only works when the impact isn't too severe and is the "ideal type" of accident, otherwise you get crushed. It simply cannot be made to cover every case. For mild accidents that wouldn't hurt you it's sure to make you spend far more money on repairs, if you don't qualify for insurance for whatever reason.

Whatever the problem is the solution is NOT for the people to use the elective powerful body that is meant to represent them to in any way regulate, moderate, or alter the behavior of giant corporations who are otherwise beholden to no one but shareholders whose interests do not align with actual consumers. That would immediately lead to 60 million dead trans Soviet Union Venezuela and make you a very bad goymerican.
btw I know I haven't paid you back from last time but can you spot me like 500 billion thanks. don't worry bro you'll get it back soon it just has to trickle back down first thanks again bro

>It simply cannot be made to cover every case.
That was true up to the 00's
But now they crash test cars from all angles and they have computer models to optimize the crumple zones to deal with any conditions.

And modern cars really are crazy safe.
The vast majority of accidents are survivable and the number of roads deaths is only a fraction of what it was 30 years ago.

>lmao nigga are we deadass fr rn? just like power off your computer or something lmao
All new vehicles have constant connectivity, smartphones are basically required nowadays with 2FA along with banking and government/municipal messages coming via apps and you need to be constantly available to employers and private relations. It’s only going to get worse in this regard if you’re not using a smartphone 24/7 you’re basically labeled a schizo and the system makes it impossible for you to exist.

>nobody cares about you, you are not important, just don't store 'p and don't say mean words from your official account, is that too hard for an autist to do?

Nobody cares about a single wagie but all of the wagies are the driving force of a society. The surveillance isn’t on one person it’s on all of the masses.

The palantir surveillance AI will cross reference IPs & device/browser fingerprinting of posts made everywhere and give you a social credit score. Get a bad social credit score and suddenly you’re fired from your job, can’t get employed, all your cards are frozen and your car isn’t allowed to charge.

>pretty much every technological innovation over the last 10-15 years seems to make our lives worse, not better
They don't "make your life worse", (you) simply dislike them for mostly emotional reasons. Back in the day boomers complained about the tech you consider making your life better no in much the same for the exact same reasons.

i don't know where this idea that life is supposed to be easy or that someone promised you someday that your life would become easy at some point comes from, i think its a consequence of the last 80 years of globalization fueled by america's moral superiority after winning ww2 which is now coming to an end, that era was an anomaly in human history, you'd best come to terms with it quick

poorfags from third world cannot comprehend that most of the car's feature you control in the center console are nowadays set and forget, like climate control that automatically heats the steering wheel, toggle ventilated seats, and even smart sound control that adjust the volume based on ambient noise. No. Screens are cheaper and easier to monitise. The goal is to show you ads for 30 second before you even start your engine or pay a subscription for the ad free starter. Then you pay a subscription for the GPS.
