Turns out you can buy TV sized monitors made for CCTV use. How cool right? Just get one of these and hook up your HTPC or an AppleTV, without having to deal with the absolute AIDS that are ""SmartTVs"". Anyone has gotten one of these? There must be a ton of models out

>spend more money
>for a lower quality Chinese display
I simply don't connect my Samsung TV to the internet. I don't even use the remote it came with. The fire stick remote turns it off and on which is all I need.

search terms for (sc)amazon? though knowing how rough the spic delivery drivers always are it might be several rounds to not get a smashed one

Nah I bought a cheap ass smart tv, and never ever allowed it internet access.. I figured if it starts failing on me after x time I'd return it or just toss into the e-waste it was designed to end up anyway. Still works after 2y so fingers crossed.

There really isn't much of a difference between a TV and a computer monitor
If anything, you technically already plug TVs to computers in your living room if you're playing on console

and you can't use regular tv for what you described because... reasons?

If you don't connect a Samsung (and probably any other brand) TV to the internet during setup, it will just turn into a a dumb TV. I really don't get why anyone would spend more money on inferior tvs.

People don't realize how much of a race to the bottom consumer electronics has become. They buy crap that costs $100-200 less than something halfway decent then are shocked when it doesn't last.

Decent stuff that lasts just doesn't exist anymore and often more it costs, shorter it lasts and less repairable it is, like stuff with excessive amount of unreplaceable multi-zone dimming backlights or burning OLED screens.

If you're that schizophrenic but still need a good quality display you can always buy a smart TV and manually cripple the smart part by destroying the wifi chip and whatnot, dumb TVs are very low quality because of how cheap is it to make smart TVs so they only exist for the absolute poor
