Can you make a living exclusively as dev ops?
>>
>>108595580
yes
>>
>>108595580
Yes, and it pays extremely well.
It's also very convoluted.
>>
>>108595668
Yea but programming requires math and bigger brain
>>

*some programming requires math.
A very small subset of it.

And math isn't necessarily bigger brain than scaling shit, keeping shit secure, managing costs, integrating shit with shit, and migrating from shit to shit.
It's just a different type of complexity.

Dev ops is hardly pure programming dummy. It's more like logistics design, maintenance, and monitoring.

not so much in the AI era. you better be prepared to do other stuff as well as dev ops.

Is it AI-willl-take-my-job proof?
>>
>>108597283
Yes and no.
The risks and responsibilities of the position are incredibly high, so currently no sane company (aside from those that were entirely AI operated from the very start) would actually allow AI to touch anything a DevOps would touch.
But also because of AI the barrier for entry is now massively lower.
For the longest time, even if the docs are all there and are regularly updated, the field was so convoluted, it was pretty hard to get into from the standpoint of acquiring all the necessary knowledge without being put into the position first.
But now most people can just talk to AI for a bit and figure out what services of which provider they need, how to use them, how not to, etc.
It's not 100% reliable yet because it still often refers to outdated, deprecated, and sometimes straight-up discontinued features and interfaces, but it's already incredibly helpful.

no dev job is safe from stupid managers looking for easy gains by cutting staff.

Rope. Around your neck. Now.
>>
>>108595580
yes but you should ask your self if you wanna create pipelines in yaml and silly grafana metrics all day and then get called at 2am because something decided ACK and you now have to get all services back running again
>>
>>108597446
Is it bad? I do that sometimes
>>
>>108597957
Doesn't change much, but it makes you look like a child, CAPITALIZING words also doesn't really work with Ai
