We can turn this feature off in America.
>>
>>108595923
What exactly is the issue?
>>
imagine shoreline foghorn to play tone and in phone reads this is a test
>>
>>108596019
same in Europe I think, at least I'm able to
>>
>>108596033
OP doesn't want to be warned before his death.
>>
>>108596033
I read that women especially were concerned because their partners might discover their secret phones
>>
>>108596078
The idea of turning the phone off during the test is not something that comes easily to some people is it
>>
>>108596096
I suppose it's a burden that some people feel is not their responsibility, and considering the traction the complaint received; I suppose they were correct
>>
>>108596019
There is also a "presidential alert", albeit hidden, that you cannot disable without root.

I can disable them.

Based government for thot patrolling cheaters.

>>108596110
I have no root and I can disable them on GrapheneOS.
>>
I just wish they were more customizable, I want anything immediately dangerous to me (tornado etc.) to always play an alert sound, but lesser ones to vibrate only.
On my phone (looks much like >>108596014) the vibrate preference applies to all enabled alerts.
Also the categories are pretty fucking vague, more detail would be nice.

>>108596572
> I have no root but I did install a custom rom
ok, nice argument. lol.
>>
>>108595923
Here in Montreal they recently blared it at like 4:30AM to the whole city cause a woman drove away with her kids or something.

It was the full blown emergency "nukes are coming" one too.
>>
>>108596033

>>108596662
Categories are set by the country you live in.
If it was «natural disasters», «missing person», «terror attacks», I would enable some and disable some too.

>>108598210
It was extremely easy, even a retard can do it.
You should do it too.
>>
>>108596014
LMAO what kind of
>extreme sever threats
are there in the UK? Running out of tea?
>>
>>108595923
We can turn it off here in the USA, except for "presidential" alerts which are never ever used. If one was used it would be some shit like >the yellowstone chaldra erupted and you need to do X Y Z NOW. They tested the presidential alert once in 2020 but it hasn't happened again since.

That said, I keep all the emergency alerts on except amber alerts. If there's a tornado I would like the 5 minute warning if it was available.
>>
>>108595923
i wouldn't mind these alerts so much, but they send amber alerts for locations like 10 hours away by car.
>>
>>108601171
And 99% of them are just custody disputes.
>>
>>108600903
Didn't one of those get sent out in Hawaii saying that they were about to get nuked?
>>
>>108596014
>>108596572
>I can disable them
no you can't, all of these are sent out at the maximum priority level possible, and toggling these options off will do nothing to stop that
disabling the package through adb is what actually works, and that can be done on any phone in 30 seconds.
retards.
>>
>>108601200
I disabled it on my iPhone for the last testing they did in my country and I got nothing
>>
>>108598229
I get geo-targeted SMS messages from police about local junkies that have gone missing.
>>
>>108595923
just take out the SIM card
slmple
>>
Whenever we have test alerts the iPhones are like a minute behind the android devices. I have no idea why. Do they want to selectively purge the Icattle in case of a nuclear war?
>>

He said he was on GrapheneOS; that means you absolutely can disable presidential alerts through the GUI.
>>
>>108595923
What, you don't want to be warned that something may be about to kill you?
It's a broadcast system that simultaneously signals everything in reach of a cell tower (like radio/TV), it's not even tailored to you and your phone sends no response back. You can't even make the privacy argument about it.
>>
>>108605055
>It's a CIA/NSA/Mossad feature used to keep you terrified of leaving the plantation and subservient to them, your "protectors". You need to be tracked and traced at all times.

>Wireless alerts are fully optional since GrapheneOS adds a toggle for the otherwise mandatory presidential alert type.
>>108603269
>4. In some countries or regions, you may not be able to turn off Government Alerts.
hmm... aight, iOS mogs. wonder which country mandates them not being toggleable though, ball castration type shit
>>
>>108605076
This!
>>
>>108600109
It's for when there is a native brit expressing his opinion about paki rape gangs in your vicinity.
>>
>>108605169
Presidential alerts are not optional, they cannot be disabled normally on stock Android.
Your phone screams anyway even if you disable wireless alerts.
Only a different Android distro or root can disable them.
>>
>>108595923
You don't own the cellular network.
