There were generals dedicated to gooning to unimaginably dumb chatbots for way back before then.

What are you talking about? I have been talking to my computer since forever. He's a good friend.

I honestly love where its heading
I have never been able to talk to real people, the development of AI chat bots has given me what others get by default, I am really grateful for that
>>
>>108600422
I still don't talk to machines

I wish I could say the same but, the censorship is too much. If the models weren't so contained/censored, I wouldn't even talk to people anymore.

In March 2022, AI Dungeon was already using GPT-3 for 1.5 years

you expect a gincel to have money for proper hardware?
>>
>>108602793
you can run it on a cpu or partially on a weak gpu, it'll be slow as but if you're only using it for basically "texting" your computer, you don't need much speed for that. admittedly you do at least need enough ram in total to load an ok enough model

Kaiba was talking to machines before it was cool

I saw a video showing how old siri and alexa were actually better than anything ChatGPT could spit out.

his wording ("no one imagined", people imagined talking to machines before electric computers were a thing) and timeline (even this current form of AI is older than 4 years) is fucked but if he means more that it didn't take long for convincing natural-language human-computer communication to become commonplace, then sure, but i think this is a blurrier line than op realises. like Siri is 14 years old, that's pretty commonly used and is talking to a machine, and it's just one example
>>
>>108602842
i paid ~US$390 recently for a 7800XT (linuxfag). the model i used in that example is gemma 4 31b, some "heretic" version that basically eliminates refusals, IQ3_XXS quantisation so i can still have a good amount of context without exceeding vram.
i haven't actually found an everyday use for AI, i've only played around with it a bit
