Yeah building gentoo packages and using --usepkgonly is the way to deal with slow machines or laptops.
>>108602690> Install Gentooyou'll probably die before you finish building stuff> Install Gentoo with my Ryzen server as build slavemuch better, although a g4 would still be very slow> Install latest OSX and attempt to update the browser and shitno, unless you really like osx (which you don't), plus there's no modern firefox for osx 10.5i have two maxed out late 2005 G5s (quad core, 16 gb of ddr2, a much newer radeon as a second gpu), but they're really on the edge of being usable, even an older G5 model would be much slower than that, and you have a G4 mini. i only use mine because i have a weird obsession with alternative arches, and a performance level of an early core 2 duo/quad is something i can tolerate oh and yes, a lot of software is currently broken on big-endian. you WILL have to patch mesa, firefox, chromium, etc

FreeBSD or NetBSD should run on it. For something wild and wacky there's always MorphOS.

>>108602690As a Linux user, using it on alt ISAs is usually the most boring since the experience is gonna be pretty much the same as any other shitbox, plus the annoyances of having to deal with not being on x86 or even ARM. Personally I'd just install OSX and use it dick around in older versions of Mac apps
