If internet speeds keep going up, why does internet feel so SLOW now?

>>108604053Because people don't have the necessary intelligence to be able to judge poorly implemented services - otherwise they wouldn't be using them in the first place, and no one would complain because they would be avoided.
>>108604053Because bootcamp devs have managed to negate entire orders of magnitude increases in raw hardware capabilities. Eternal reminder that the absolute majority of pre 2025 LLM optimization advancements came from the early llm threads back before they were just the consumer schizo shitshow of today. Today basically 99.98% of all optimization in the field comes from China. Even Googles recent 8x announcement has turned out to be pure vapourware / lying by omission.
>>108604076Pretty sure something is wrong with the site right now
>>108604053Most of the internet is still using boomer image formats.
>>108604117Yeah they're fucking something up on the backend again. Somtimes submitting takes so long that the captcha (which already took half a minute to appear) expires before the backend accepts the post. 10/10.
>>108604076>>108604117Thought it was something on my end, was going crazy

>>108604126if you can't make your argument without chatgpt you shouldn't be making your argument
>>108604053because every website is a 10mb javascript blob
>>108604053>why does internet feel so SLOW now?the browser spends like 5 seconds pumping every page through 10MB of nodejs modules before being able to display it
>>108604181>>108604195Shit ass boomer image formats are LITERALLY clogging the "internet pipes". You can have 1Gbps home internet and websites using JPG/GIF/PNG will still lag like a motherfucker because websites themselves cannot afford to send you said images at 1 Gbps. Therefore things like Webp reduce load times across all internet connections.
>>108604216yes my dear gptbrained goy, it's totally the image formats slowing down the web, not the shitload of scripts your browser has to download from 9000 different domains creating a dozen of requests only to display some basic stuff to youget the fuck out underage
>>108604216i can tell you asked chatgpt to talk like a 4chan user

>>108604255>>108604286It makes 100% perfect sense that a 10MB GIF/PNG/JPG distributed across 6 million users would cause another shoah. I mean moving these bloated turd of images isn't cheap.Or are you saying all websites have access to 128-core servers with 1 petabyte of RAM and 100 Gbps backhauls? If so do you have any proof of this?

There was already a "spam" filter before so it's not that insane to think.Another imageboard I'm using is dead, so maybe there is something happening globally too.>>108604126>using AI regurgitating shit instead of using his own words to back up his opinion>AI use emoji toodon't care didn't read, saw emoji and AI format so I had to post just to remind you that you are worthless because of yourself so don't go out with some meltdown cope about how it's someone else's fault you can't think for yourself>>108604357kill yourself, 4chan work fine for fetching imagesalso you don't belong here or anywhere that allow their mentally retarded online
+30% speed+500% shit to download
Now that there is a strict 1 post/2 minute cooldown built into the captcha system what are the meta implications of this for the board? Here are some that I have thought of:1: A hard timer like this built in will naturally decrease the amounts of posts per minute.2: One such tactic would aim at gradually making these boards less interesting for their users.3: If it slows down ppm but gets rid of even some of the bots is it worth it?This new feature has been confirmed to affect all users, even pass users and verified email users, clearing cookies/history does not affect it. imo probably rolling out the throttle for the upcoming Iran ground war
It still fucking kills me that there are no regulation against ads on the internet.Shit will literally download malwares on your machine if you let them but it's perfectly legal.
>>108605591>featurelolthese are the same people that had their website taken down by a 13 year old ghostscript exploit because they stopped updating anything after moot left. none of the people running this place are even remotely competent
>>108605591>orange retard kills 4chanI voted for this
Because no one optimizes database queries anymore
>>108605558>kill yourself, 4chan work fine for fetching imagesI LITERALLY have to wait like a minute for 4 MB low quality shit ass GIFs to load. Couldn't have you picked a better site that doesn't throttle to 1 Mbps when too many users connect?
I only have a 30mbit connection when my ISP offers 1.5gbps with the same modem, and most of the time I can't even get 30mbps, random connection deaths of 10+ seconds, every video streaming site buffering for a minute after moving the seekbar for 720p while nothing happens. Pretty sad that I had a faster cable connection in the 90s further rural in the same city

>>108604053Everything is being routed and logged trough CloudFlare and Palantir now. Plus your browser is tracking everything via telemetry and selling it to scammers in India... your OS, ISP, the site you're on are doing the same... and any other devices associated with your profile are being updated in real-time so you can't escape the tracking. It's "advertising" all the way down.
>>108604117they sorted it all yesterdaysays so, right there.
>>108604053Are they? I still have 40mbps cellular, Orange LTE on a good day.
>>108604053I mean it is fast, you wouldn't have been able to stream 4k60 video back in the day (even if your computer could theoretically play it back without dropping frames). I can download games from Steam at over 90 megabytes per second, torrents even faster, but those are best case scenario uses. The problem is modern web browsers and web pages, what >>108604346 said, every web page has to get content from like 725 other places in order to track you and serve ads.
