turned out it was actually really dumb to tightly couple the init system to a distro
why the fuck did every major distro make the same fucking mistake
even Arch, which was supposed to be the chosen one and bring balance to the force
I know Artix exists but I'm worried about trusting something that doesn't have wide community support i.e. reach

i swear, you arch troons are delusional. arch was one of the first distros to open its ass to big SYSTEMD kek, even fedora gave it more thought, mainly beacause arch devs are lazy fucks that saw in SYSTEMD an opportunity to do less work.
>>
Distros being tightly coupled to their inits has been the status quo since forever.

Autists should be grateful for systemd because it did more to motivate the development of multiple inits than anything else. Before that you either installed Gentoo or put up with the archaic slow bullshit of sysvinit.
>>
>>108605807
Artix has much fewer devs but they're solid and very competent bunch from what I've seen so far since migrating. If Arch's devs decide they want to jump ship, they can easily migrate to artix and keep on with their work.

why can't you anti-Arch troons just shut your fucking crotch wounds and take the W?

Something is inherently wrong with their genetic code.
>>
>>108605869
this is a shit point considering this ended with systemd cucking to governments
>>108605882
main factor for me is general system stability and being able to get shit done which means packages need to be tested and work
I'll probably try it out on a spare machine

>this is a shit point considering this ended with systemd cucking to governments
Ubuntu and other shit distros would have acquiesced to Commiefornian laws with or without systemd. Arch is a Euro (non-bonger) distro so the devs don't care.
>>
>>108605807
Arch is for trannies
Use Devuan for fixed-Debian,
or Gentoo for the good advanced os

Void just werks, Artix is a hacked together mess.

You can accomplish just that with most distros, Arch/Artix included.

They don't care about removing age verification implemented by systemd either.

Because it's just an optional userdb field you can literally just ignore.

Arch linux will be the first to implement Real ID™© age verification with the state of New York because their troon gooner devs are ecstatic about locating children

systemd isn't doing age verification
all systemd did was add a field to store the user's age
nobody has to use it
>>
>>108606177
Nigger "slippery slope fallacy" is such a made term. Every time I've heard people say "slippery slope fallacy" they end up being completely wrong.

Look at the liberal arguments during the Bush/Obama era about gay marriage. Or look at any other censorship law. Its always "we would NEVER do they thing you're worried about. Trust us" and a few years later they pretend like they never said that and now the problem is serious so we need to take serious measures.
You're a frog in a boiling pot with the memory of a goldfish or a fed.

And how long do you think it will take for some piece of software to check the field and bail out if it's unset?
You all have been calling me a schizo for refusing to use any poetteringware for the past 15 years, but I was always right.
>>
>>108612188
peak rage baiting right now would be to vibe code some slop and have it require the age verification, post it all over rebbit and see what happens
>>
>>108612188
It's a FOSS ecosystem. Some distros will cuck out, others will simply refuse to ship packages that do this shit or will patch them/invoke build options to disable it. Arch already does this for some packages, in fact.
>>
>>108605807
I'm still mad that we don't have a single initrd generator in systemd, that dbus isn't a part of systemd, that we have to use bubble-wrap in flatpak instead of systemd-run.
>>
I just found out systemd was made by the same guy that made pulseaudio and now I'm onboard the systemd hate.
FUCK pulseaudio.

systemd is awful, it fixes the fragmentation of the linux desktop, muh choice. thankfully wayland is amazingly designed and bringing it back 10 fold

What year is it?
