some anons were seething about how hard itd be to make a mangadex competitor because mangadex is kill so i cooked something up in a week
its very bare bones right now since i also had to learn django in this week
I do have a plan to host it but it depends on whether I want to seed the volumes automatically or just dump it into some s3 bucket type thing
Ill upload the code later if anybody cares, its not vibecoded or anything since I acktually want to learn web development and prove a point

i dont really know what itll look like desu
>>
>>108606010
more sakura chan ideally with less clothes on than that
>>
>>108605941
Based, keep at it. I always like seeing people actually make something on this site. It's quite rare.
>>108606031
It has the same UI as e-hentai, but nhentai's UI is lightyears better, especially the reader.
>>
>>108605941
sweet, I'll make the logo
>mangas

>It has the same UI as e-hentai, but nhentai's UI is lightyears better, especially the reader.
i was just looking at mangadex for inspiration but i should probably also be looking at n-hentai. e-hentai is kind of ass especially its filtering system
im planning on using no javascript so its going to be a little clunky but whatever
>>108606060
agreed
>>

oof
>>
>>108606081
your not going to like the domain name anon
also there was a /g/ needs to make the logo joke in there somewhere but i forgot my video file had an audio track
>>
>>108606103
what is the domain? also, are you planning to put it on some git forge (github, codeberg, gitlab etc)?
>>
>>108606148
>what is the domain?
mangas.si, i impulsed purchased it a while ago so its just been sitting around for a while. its a slovenian domain extension so it should be pretty good DMCA wise
>also, are you planning to put it on some git forge (github, codeberg, gitlab etc)?
i was planning on running cgit or something on the domain but that might be too much work, maybe ill upload it to codeberg then take a break for a while
>>
>>108606173
>.si
I'm glad my shithole does something right
>>
nice but isn't this just madokami
it even has the same colours as madokami
ah wait no you got the reader there

making the sites isn't the difficult part or even the hosting
it's the retards that keep doing it and doxxing themselves
register domain sure lets just use all my details

stay frosty OP they lurking
>>
cant believe how quick that weebdex nigga on /a/ folded
>>
>>108606232
private trackers are ghey
also yeab, im trying to keep relatively decent OPSEC, i believe i payed for the domain with crypto but I cant remember, at least no WHOIS info. This is just DMCA content and not like pizza or anything
>>108606400
i missed the whole weebdex thing enlighten me
>>
>>108605941
30 images per chapter is kind of limiting when some opening chapters are upwards of 80 or more long.
>>
>>108605941

...It's still around...?
>>
>>108605941
Can you just select a zip or CBZ and have it auto populate chapters?
>>108606442
This, several manga I read are over 60 pages every chapter.
>>
>>108606448
mangadex is basically just that now a pokedex for manga

good luck actually reading anything on there
>>
>>108606453
>>108606442
i thought 30 was enough until i released beserk and blame have like 80 pages per chapter or something T_T
>Can you just select a zip or CBZ and have it auto populate chapters?
I dont wanna have to deal with unzipping exploits so no for now i guess
>>108606448
they started bending backwards to DMCucks and deleted half their catalog, the only renaming chapters are for series and languages publishers dont care about
>>
>>108605941
i dont read mangas but cool idea anon. my opinions you didnt ask for:
>the upload process looks painful and complicated. just let them upload a zip and organize the content in some interface
>dont use django
>>
I think it's related enough, is there a LANraragi for manga?
LANraragi only has single style galleries where every entry is isolated, but is there a program that lets you associate galleries to make chapters in a series
>>
>>108605941
intedasting
i don't read manga anymore but hopefully it gets off the ground for you
>>
>>108606426
>i missed the whole weebdex thing enlighten me
At some point between comick was kill and MD calling its core audience pedos, schale network dev made a manga site.
>no ads or tracking
>no compression, unlimited image size
>no content restrictions as long as it is japanese manga
>promised but not done: open source site code and regular content backups on torrents
Multiple TL groups started uploading there, some deleted their MD archives entirely.
Fast forward a couple months he closed the site claiming it was "no longer financially sustainable among other factors".

The website in OP was made by an AI.
>>
>>108606477
How does a new site solve that? If anything, it's worse unless you mass scrape Mangadex and the other manga sites.

I don't think the problem was ever the lack of websites to host manga, it's that they're based in jurisdictions that fold when faced with legal threats.
>>
>>108605941
I think the problem here is bandwidth cost and DMCA claims. You need the service to be hosted away from the reach of jews and cjk jews. I think a service facilitating p2p would be ideal. That way multiple nodes can carry the burden of sharing certain series. For example if I like manga x I would act as a server for it. if you want to make it popular you'd have to make it work in a browser but that would just be torrent leaching at that point
>>
>>108607244
maybe he should go the cubari route. simply host json files that redirect to file hosting services. that way the bandwidth is offloaded to external services. a system to encrypt the images and decrypt only when viewed on certain websites could be set in place so that file hosting services have no idea they are hosting copyright protected files. that should also take care of automated DMCA reports
>>
>>108607990
problem is when those outside hosts get bitchy like how catbox is always going down and is currently blocked to anonymous uploads and how imgur is banned in the uk
>>
>>108608030
using fallbacks can mitigate the problem but honestly the risk of something going down is not so different from what we have now. you can at least gain control over bitchy TL groups deleting their uploads because of drama

the plan is to rent an offshore server and have a reverse proxy on it that redirects to more reputable (cheaper) servers on the internal network. i dunno im still figuring it out
hopefully i can beg for donations and cover the ~$20 a month needed to host the thing

i was also planning on torrenting complete chapters or something like that, and maybe even using webtorrent on the front end for js enable clients to leech of the bittorrent network instead of my bandwith

It's actually quite common, it's rare that a project ever gets finished, like all those opensource mangadex replacements from 6 years ago.
>>
>>108606010
>i like sadpanda can you make it like that
Isn't that just LANraragi?
https://github.com/Difegue/LANraragi
>>
>>108605941
Is DoA my dude, your biggest bandwidth users will not be a handful of casual manga readers but a bunch of APPs consuming your resources and giving you nothing in return while they charge for access to their frontend.
>>
>>108610341
Would the egyptian girl help with that?
>>
Making such a site isnt the hard part, its hosting the millions of chapter and getting newly releases as fast as possible

How are you gonna finance hosting it?
>>
if you're well off and have good opsec knownledge to cover your tracks you can do it, most manga hosters aren't able to fulfil this requirement so they fail.

OP if you don't have these 2 requirements you will fail trust me.
>>
>>108610372
no they just proxy the challenge, on a browser you have many ways to protect yourself against hot linking but on an APP everything is fair game and can spoofed.
>>
>>108605941
nice, just
>make mihon extension
>rip entire madokami (it's on internet archive) and upload it
>rip entire mangadex and upload it
>start adding chapters that are released somewhere else manga by manga
>>
>>108610769
nah just rip all manga from all websites

have each entry manga seperate for each source you get it from that way you have everything seperated

so you'll have attack on titan (mangadex), attack on titan (madokami) etc.... so when you search a manga you can click which source you prefer to view chapters from.

obviously it takes up way more space
>>
>britbong
dude, why even try
