i'm tired of traditional mice making my hands uncomfortable, and i'm looking for a finger trackball with low stiction. i plan to use it for general use and vidya.i used to have a slimblade but i broke it while trying to do a bearing mod :(
Ploopy. That is your only option. All other trackballs have bad DPI defaults and/or shitty DPI scaler software options only. Plus, most trackballs, other than ploopy, have basic bearings for moving the main ball. Ploopy comes with dedicated rollers. Less cleaning and resistance.
>>108612939Do you have one, and if so, hows your experience with it? Would you recommend it for vidya? Is the 3D Printed case durable?
L-trac or gameball. I don't know how you managed to break the slimblade with a bearing swap, I'm pretty sure they're just held in by screws so you'd have to be pretty retarded to somehow damage the boards during disassembly.
>>108612445Japanese audio engineers use Kensington SlimBlade Pro for what it's worth
>>108613109What happened what the bearing fell into the screw hole and wouldn't fall back out, Yes, I'm kinda retarded lol
>>108613126I would've just a drilled a small hole into the screw hole from the back and pushed it out with a pin.
>>108612992I don't have the adept variant, but I do have a thumb based one. Its pretty good. I've had it for a couple of months now and its been without issue.
>>108612445i've got an orbit w/ scroll ring. it's been good to my hand and I like it. But i also had to replace one of the switches in only a few months and the original switches weren't anything to write home so i can hardly call it good.
The cst is still the best as far as the bearing system goes if you don't mind the design. I've used a ploopy classic for a couple of months and still went back to my cst despite the ploopy having a better shell design. I've yet to use any trackball that rolls as smoothly as the cst or develop friction issues over time
>>108613174Where can I buy this in Canada? I know $1 million CAD is basically $3 USD, but i’d like to see if i can get it at a lower price than $200 on amazon.
>>108613182No idea unless you can find one used somewhere. 223 cad is what they're sold for on the website as wellhttps://piengineering.com/search?q=trackball&type=product
>>108612445I tried a bunch of alternative pointing devices, and they all made my hand hurt... my solution to this problem was to just get a really small mouse, currently a Logitech M171.
>>108612445i have that exact model of trackball and it's dogshit
>>108613199I’ll definitely have a look. My only question is how’s the scroll wheel placement? Does it feel odd or awkward if it’s at the top? Ideally i’d like to have the slimblade’s twist to scroll thing but i think that’s patented or something.
>>108613370The scroll wheel is awkward but I've gotten used to it. Objectively it's inconvenient though since your palm will the directly above the ball when using it. Not a huge problem when scrolling documents and the web imo, and for games I usually only ever bind single actions to the scroll wheel anyway. Also it isn't really mentioned anywhere but the polling rate is 1000hz which is another reason why it feels smoother than other trackballs. The only real downside is how mushy the default mouse switches are. They aren't normal switches, I resoldered mine after they wore out with some D2F-01F omrons and it was a huge improvement.
Wow, these all look unergonomic as fuck. Did you know that your thumb tendons will also eventually suffer from RSI?That's even worse than wrist issues because you need your thumb for other things too, it's in constant motion.Just get a mouse and learn how to use it. No gimmick will fix your slouching posture, tiny desk and flaccid arm hanging over the edge...
