Why do people use Unicode characters in the terminal, documentation, etc. and make everything look like shit when ASCII already aligns everything perfectly?

That was your own conscious choice to use a terminal that does not force every character to have the same width and does not use a large Unicode monospace font for most of the characters.Windows Terminal (using Cascadia Mono as its font) does not have this problem at all.
