Last thread:>>108613274>I come from the future to tell you that Windows 11 exist purely to enforce OS level age verification. Avoid Windows 11>Don't uprgrade to Windows 11! They will use it to force OS level ID verification (and a lot more) for everythingYesterday I already made a thread about this. In fact I was already supposed to make a thread about this few months ago.I wasn't even aware of the EU digital ID+Covid pass app released a few days ago and the Mexican goverment proposal for literal iris scan bases ID verification for the internet. Seeing how quickly this is progressing I feel like I need to re-iterate this once again. Also in my previous thread there was a some outdated information regarding Windows 10 ESU requirements. Now enrolling in Windows 10 ESU is a lot easier than it was a few months ago. All you need to do now is add (or create) a Microsoft to your computer (and make it an administrator). You can still use your current local accounts and you don't need to sign up for any office365 stuff. The enroll button is in the Windows update section in the settings. It may be under differnet names like "register" or "sign up" and may be in differnet places as well as differ per language locale so it may be a bit hard to find. The only requirement (currently, but Microsoft may change this again any time) to being part of the ESU is that you need to log in to the Microsoft account every month on the PC. Some users may need to pay for this, but it should be free for most users.Tell your friends, family, co-workers and loved ones that are planning to upgrade not to. Spread the word online and offline. Talk about this on forums, s0_yddit and where ever you can.In the long term you should probably be looking in to switching to Linux.Previous thread:>>108613274
>>108623070Why does age verification matter if I'm 30+ years old and don't want my kids looking at porn anyways?
>>108624292>I'm 30How do we know you're 30+ years old if we don't have a scan of your butthole?
>>108623070>not using LTSC
but I fucked up the bit number and now nothing can't be opened on my win 10. should I just buy a new laptop with pre installed win 11?
>>108624292>Why does age verification matter if I'm 30+ years old and don't want my kids looking at porn anyways?Do they need your ID and iris scan to just use an operating system?
>>108623070just use windows 7
>>108623070picrel or death
>>108624317i've got a jar of snake oil to sell you
>>108623070that's a lot of work when you could just run a stable distro
>>108624315just use a credit card/bank account info, and don't be nikocado avocado.
I "upgraded" and shit just wont start after an "update" and crashes 50% of the time I want to render video.Fuck this shit
>>108623070I’ve been using Windows 11 Pro for 3 years, and it literally just works. How you guys manage to screw it up is in someways impressive.
I'm not using Windows so this wont affect me
>>108623070>bla bla bla [irrelevant drivel]
Why is it that a company like Apple which is definitely not full of saints does not require you to log into your Apple account on the initial setup, but Microsoft forces you to, unless you go through this bullshit step of unplugging your ethernet cable and restarting the setup with a terminal command?
>>108623070Just changed to CachyOS, pretty comfy
My gmail account is old enough to vote. This is somehow not good enough to prove I'm not a child.
>>108623070Thank you for this thread. Being in Europe, I thought I was already getting Windows 10 ESU updates. I wasn't aware that you need to "enroll" to it.I really need to stop being lazy and just install Linux Mint to the 2nd SSD...
>>108623070I'm 53 years of age; why should this bother me. I don't use Windows because of age verification, I don't use it because it's shit. It's more of a telemetry/advertising platform than and OS.
>>108627186and then how do (((they))) know you didn't just lend your credit card to a kid?don't kid (pun not intended) yourselves, anons, you all know that real time biometric surveillance is coming, just look at the recent IPv8 proposal... attestation present within the protocol itself
>>108630345>I'm 53 years of age; why should this bother me. I don't use Windows because of age verification, I don't use it because it's shit. It's more of a telemetry/advertising platform than and OS.Because it's a lot more than a mere age check.
>Microsoft accountno
>>108623070my main setup is arch linux, debating switching to artix, and windows is relegated to a second SSD just for autodesk and matlab shit
The fact people on /g/ are talking about adding a MS account to get 1 year of ESU on W10 instead of using Massgrave to get 3 years of ESU without any MS account tells me this board is full of illiterate retards
>need an ID to use all other forms of electronic communication>but the internet is somehow different because uhh muh retarded 90s nostalgia
>>108631208always has been but you are using windows so include yourself into it
>>108630897Like I said, in no way does the affect me but out of interest, apart from some bullshit about Spic iris scans, what other potential civil liberty concerns are there? At the end of the day, isn't it a good thing that the OS is stopping access to 18+ content? You wouldn't let a bairn into a pub on the strength that they're telling you they're an adult so why let kids have free reign to discover shit holes such as this? And if you are stupid enough to use Windows then you deserve everything coming to you.
>>108631858>what other potential civil liberty concerns are there?Being forced to provide identifiable information to the OS itself? Reminder that even police are not allowed to force you to identify yourself unless they have reasonable suspicion that a crime has been committed. So why should an OS be able to just for existing?Bad parenting should never be everyone elses problem. If a child accesses 18+ content the problem begins and ends with the parents.
>>108632446Agreed about the parenting but again, it's an issue for Windows users, i.e. normies. Who gives a shit.
>>108624952Unironically, yes. The ID part. State law now in some places, national law incoming.
>>108631858>what other potential civil liberty concerns are there?your full doxx becoming available to criminals and (((criminals)))the discord-related hack was far from a one off
>>108623070>>108634773I am not a pedo, so I don't want to mingle with children on the net. Are you? Also I pay taxes so the criminals are rightfully put in jail. This is why you should vote with your wallet.
>>108634796good luck to you when a pedo does use your stolen biometric data to access CPyou literally can't change your biometrics
>>108631858The fact there are still brainlets falling for the 'muh children' argument just goes to show we are doomed.
>>108634802>you literally can't change biometrics>but a pedo can change biometric dataretard.
>>108634885>he thinks there won't be AI models specilizing in generating simulated ID's based on stolen biometricsLMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>>108629549its not about verifying your age its about attaching your account to your id so they can punish you for antiseptic views or other anti-civil violations

>>108632798I've followed this closely, and I'm not aware of any ID requirement in any state law so far.
