Fucking redditors. Fucking insufferable faggots. XLibre has seen various extremely good changes, yet these fucking retards think it's not a serious fork. Fucking faggots. I'm posting this here because the le reddit mods locked the thread so I can't discuss this with these faggots.
>>
I don't think I've ever seen anyone meaningfully explain what new features were added to Xlibre that aren't in Xorg.

You're just as bad as them.
>>
>>108624156
>I can't read. Therefore,
>You're just as bad as them.
Q: What features or enhancements does Xlibre bring?

A: Code cleanups and modernization aimed at improved maintainability and performance. Support for Xnamespace (greater isolation) and updating nested Xnest to use libxcb.
>>
>>108624156
You can literally read about that in the xlibre README, the front page of the github page. Are you slow?

>>

Yeah the lefties and trannies are having a meltie because XLibre literally is the only maintained version of Xorg aka XFree86.
>>
>>108624273
Bro XLibre has gay flags and allows anyone to contribute. Gonna need to start projects with a strict no Indian no Tranny policy so you faggots know what a right wing fork is. Also, X11 is literally deprecated and XLibre is the only actual attempt to keep it alive (Pheonix and OpenBSDs version don't count). I genuinely don't get why libtards get so autistically upset about XLibre.

Linux gives more authoritarian vibes than Windows honestly.

X was never ideal, but you can see those wayland shills never talking about wayland virtues, but only about how Xorg is bad, and they were the ones to make it this bad. X is still way more flexible and thoughtful than "I don't see the use case" wayland.

While Xlibre burned the bridge the day they decided to make it political, if metux just said "Xorg is no longer a priority for freedesktop et al. and this is a fork to maintain it and improve it" I'm sure many would have stood with him and contributed, but now with his stupidity he mainly attracted nocoder xuds. And with his low skills I'm sure he'll never achieve anything good.

Btw Xorg IS maintained and worked on, mainly bug fixes, but it's not dead, and it will never be. In worst case scenario we have another decade with X, because wayland will never be a real windowing system.
>>

In my best case scenario about X vs Wayland we never use wayland and keep X, or make something better but compatible with X, maybe something like rio of plan9
>>
>>108625207
True, I fear the wayland shit infiltrates DE's with dependencies that make Xorg a pain in the near future.
>>
>>108624273
why didn't they merge his commits into xorg?
oh wait! they censored his work because he had retarded opinions about covid vaccines
now let me ask you, does xlibre deny pr's from people with mentally retarded opinions about giving hormones to children to make them hotter later on?
what about retarded opinions about abolishing the police, or introducing afrocentric communism?
show me one occasion of xlibre destroying a persons work because of their political beliefs

leftists just can't help themselves
everything is political for them all the time
there is no honorful reprieve, no time-out, no friendly cooperation
you must tear the other guy down at all cost because they represent ultimate evil

>>
>>108625335
This is why they win. Fairness doesn't exist for your enemy, your enemy needs to be held to their standards.

That's why they're more than happy to censor XLibre and unperson it while any arch contributor can still work on Xlibre. If they could check for Xlibre as an installed package and dd /dev/random /dev/sda they absolutely would
>>
>>108626029
redditors have atrophied into beings incapable of even witnessing anything resembling a discussion. It's all just uniformed retards trying to one up everyone with some cringey quip from a marvel movie/Netflix series or a bot paid for by a company who owns the mods on the sub and is just using it as a covert advertising platform. I've been fucking around and have noticed 2 things. There's loads of bots, we're talking people who will reply to you with a 40 sentence essay faster than you can refresh the page on a comment you reply to that is 5 years old, and the sensitive cry baby faggots who will block anything that doesn't align with their pre-existing world view. If you push back mildly on anyones retardation they just insta jump to blocking you and then re-enforcing their position while you can't respond.

Never thought I'd live to see it get even worse than it was like 10 years ago but man, it is basically just a bunch of homonculi circle jerking with bots in safe space hugboxes filtering out the entire outside world to protect them from actual real human beings. I wonder who finances this pile of aids now
>>
>>108627717
The ones who talk like that are bots. OP's image? Almost entirely bots. That type of discussion where they talk around a subject matter, don't give any opinion, and make vague references to what they feel is the correct answer? That's a bot specialty.
>>

The only official reason is this
>Deleted together with the associated page with reason: The Xlibre project goes against https://terms.archlinux.org/docs/code-of-conduct/#respect and should not be listed on ArchWiki. See https://x11libre.net/#about

The reason he gave after the fact on Xorg's wiki page is this:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Talk:Xorg#XLibre
>I mean, sure? It would just be another page at this point. Though for it to make sense as a standalone page, it should have some content. Besides the installation instructions (already in the AUR comment as pointed out above), there was only a mention about TearFree being enabled by default on some chipsets.
His real opinion is likely that he hates the project and the author, but is hiding behind layers of CoC to obfuscate that. So he's waffling between "There is a vague CoC violation somewhere" and "The wiki article had no technically useful info so it didn't need to exist" while not specifying which one is his actual opinion.

He's doing this because of the impending third party investigation because he wants two issues to pivot between when they try to pin down why the article was deleted. If they assume he deleted it for CoC violations, he'll say it's over technical merit. If they say technical merit, he'll claim CoC violations. This is a professional redditor who is power tripping and avoiding responsibility is his colllege degree.

Update: They deleted the ENTIRE talk page off of Alad's user talk, including discussion about the entire Xlibre controversy and multiple statements from Alad about why it was deleted. Arch is legos: The distro. It has a reason to exist even if every part of it is compromised. They can't stop you from installing XLibre, and they can't stop you from installing OpenRC. They have wiki entries about both:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/OpenRC
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/General_recommendations#Display_server

They care about Xlibre because it's MUCH easier to replace Xorg than it is to replace your init. Replacing your Init is a serious task that incurs serious risk while with XLibre it's literally copy+and+paste this string to swap Xorg and XLibre.

Removing the XLibre wiki entry is shit because if it were just made a stub: People could post the instructions from the readme about swapping the two. It's less than a few lines.

Just post a screenshot of any anime. Or that paint image is fine because it's uniquely yours and according to US Copyright law: That is your copywritten image.

So if you ask them "Post a picture from a show you're watching right now" and they're oddly silent or they try to evade like this guy just did: They're working for the DoD or a shill farm. Deviating from the script costs them their 10 izzat an hour job.

https://x11libre.net/repo/arch_based/x86_64/install-xlibre.sh
>>
>>108631480
Check the readme and never just run random install scripts, the readme is here:
https://x11libre.net/repo/arch_based/x86_64/README.html
Reminder if you run the shell script without removing Xorg it could leave a bunch of fragments of Xorg around. You should not have an actively running lightdm or X11 session before trying to swap your display server no matter which one you're going to. You need to be in a CLI shell (Alt+ctrl+Fkey, remember F7 is Xorg) backup your Xconfigure, and then run the script.

I would also consider trying it once in a virtual environment before doing it in your live environment so you know what to look for.

arch is the distro with the most powerful wiki and among the top desktop user distros. alienating xlibre from this userbase and many others would effectively shut it down. systemd/redhat feature creep is starting to get scary and the best would be to nip it in the bud as soon as possible

Nah. They advertise it well enough by pissing all over its users. This is the first time people have talked about it since the first banning.

You are right in that losing the most powerful wiki that everyone uses sucks. But let's be honest: >>108631567 it wasn't a great entry to begin with. If people had maintained it and added more specific features like the Xorg maintainers have been adding; deleting it would have been a hard sell.

I think people should shift focus to the Gentoo wiki and make sure that article is extremely well-populated and useful because it should have just been a stub to begin with.

just switched to artix today. arch devs really disappointed me, with the age verification fiasco they were already on thin ice by doing the plausible deniability schtick every distro and their grandma are doing right now to avoid being burned. systemd is an ecosystem attack vector right now due to how entrenched it is EVERYWHERE. to do anything productive on a non-systemd distro you have to do what amounts to pretty much chopping up tentacles of the systemd machine and using them to interface with modern tooling that expects them. it's sad the linux community is slowly drifting towards the same path of retardation windows already carved for us. xlibre is pretty much a pariah project right now because it dared to go against IBM and WEF trends. also you don't hate plebbitors enough
>>
>>108632458
xlibre being known is a good thing, but this doesn't go with npc thinking as evidenced by the rebbit screenshots. they're just following a marvel movie script about le evil fash right wingers that need to be stopped by the avengers because they have been rendered incapable of critical thinking. i have nothing against wayland technically because i don't know enough but it's evident it's yet another ecosystem entry point for globohomo controlled IBM to police the free world of computing. we're slowly marching towards a similar scenario to the android world's custom ROM scene collapse. it died with a whimper and it was all slippery slopes, just like this incident is evidence of. the best thing for xlibre would be to keep marching along and resist until it becomes technically superior to wayland, which will happen sometime in the future if enough support is given to it. relegating it into a copefork for hardliners would be a death sentence for the only significant piece of resistance to corporations advancing in the linux space in a decade
