>Why does nobody talk about it anymore?
tech normaltards are trying really hard to pretend that this colossal failure with 0 use case never happened
>>

I say this and look like this (male)
>>
whats there to talk about? vibetroons embarrassed themselves. it’s going to happen several more times. we still have a few more years and possibly a few more taxpayer-impoverishing bailouts before bulls tap out and admit the use case for these things is basically so SWE’s can tab-create for loops and have a personal junior bugtester.

when they stated thinkering with it, people realized that it is actually built on pi agent, so they started building with pi instead
>>
Nobody actually wants an "AI" to go buck wild on their inbox/feed/whatever.
>>
Because it got banned for subscriptions and none wants to buy api usage
>>

Did anyone else see the HN thread on the security issue?
It was urneal.
The guy behind it showed up to do damage control, and dang and other mods started deleting/detaching critical comments, even if completely reasonable.
One just quoted a Tweet of his where he outright admitted he checks in LLM-generated code he doesn't read, and suggested perhaps he start, you know, actually reading it before committing, and that was enough to get a rebuke by dang.

Another chatbot, yawn.

I don't use openclaw but I do have a use case for llms in a loop. I use it to organize the political views and narrative shaping of main stream media. Its mostly German media I care about but mostly gemma4 goes through each main stream website reads the headline and the abstract and categorizes it for theme and content. Afterwards you get a trend out which you can then track.
Why do I care? Because I have the feeling that I am getting lied to and it was interesting to finally have the confirmation and see how narratives and language shapes. You could achieve the same thing just reading the media but I didn't want to anymore. Also interesting to compare it with pol.
Don't have a powerful pc so I use a 9b model it only recently started working good enough was trash before.

Anon, there is a good reason why the term 'Lügenpresse' exists. Anyway, what were your findings?

>>108626218
Because it's a foundationally reckless, poorly designed fad gadget that has already overstayed its welcome.

The fact that its open source is a good thing and it needs to be developed more comprehensively but between

shit like this looks like embrace extend extinguish. If it doesn't turn out that way its a pleasant surprise but I'd worry that if the dev adds to it, it will either be limited and designed in a way not to step on his new employeer's feet, or it will become subsumed into supporting or needing OpenAI subscription proprietary bullshit to do anything meaningful and

I've not kept up on what is actually insecure in terms of the gadget itself or its usage/behavior, but isn't this the underlying shit that Catbox had to limit their uploads because OpenClaw agents dumped tons of garbage data on the platform (I still don't know what workflows it was doing that would need to upload shit to Catbox, but I digress)?

This was recent, within days. Anons, and perhaps the Catbox operator was posting here about it. He just recently re-enabled anonymous uploads but posted about the reasons for it and pic related is on the main catbox homepage now because of the shit involved

As far as it specifically being OpenClaw as opposed to other agents, I cant confirm that but many seemed to feel they were the most popular or capable

At first it was sold as a neat thing to normies, that instead of having to use the command line they can use their favourite chat application and use a familiar interface to manage their agent. With some plugins to manage things like gmail, calendar it seemed like it had some potential for novice users, that could get into agents in an approachable way.

But at some point, the hype machine caught onto it, and just like there were clowns trying to tell you they were using ChatGPT to make thousands per month in the early days of the product, there were people trying to claim they were doing amazing things with OpenClaw. Part of it is the network of VC money but there is also a massive grift network of people just making videos with dubious claims just to try to ride the current wave and make money on the engagement.

So it would appear now we've hit the trough of realism now. The big claims have been dispelled and people got disillusioned. I decided to set it up on a VPS with Claude over a weekend to see if I could at least get it to automate some of my most tedious tasks (like chasing up on invoices, scheduling meetings). It blew through $300 in two days, and didn't even do that good a job. I still had to do things manually. Compare this with a very simple system, like a virtual assistant from somewhere like the Philippines to do the same work. It is not only cheaper but it actually works. Also things like ChatGPT help them sound even more professional than before when they write on my behalf.

Long term I am optimistic on the tech, maybe 10-15 years it gets scary good. But for now it seems for best result you need to really baby sit it and use a mix of LLM + virtual assistants to get the best results. All the various attempts to try to fix the issues ("systems", "subagents", "skills") etc fall flat once you go beyond trivial tasks.

Saved.
>>
>>108626218
Because the psyop is over the kike sold it to another kike.
>>
>>108626218
Because it never had any real world purpose.
It's a fake hype created by bots and fake stars to gain popularity among retards that fell for it.
This worked until OpenAI bought it and now it fell into obscurity because the dev already made his billion and doesn't care about this trash that is flooding the internet with slop.
>>
>>108626218
credits ran out so the obvious bots stopped posting
>>
I have no use case for this sort of shit.
I recently got a mac mini m4 without the intention to use OpenClaw on it like apparently people are doing and that's why they kept buying them.
To me it seems like learning how to properly use this shit is already a time wasting process. Is everyone a fucking programmer now? Does everyone need an AI agent doing fucking everything on their computer? Alien shit.
