Where do you see Linux in 10 years? Today is the day that Debian submitted to corpo-Indian influence and went down without a fight. I believe this will increasingly become a trend where old guard FOSS fanatics are pushed out in favor of corporate appointed community managers steering the direction of Linux as a whole. Not to mention government intervention with Linus cheerfully obeying any orders from his US-Isreali masters, as seen with his eagerness to remove Russian code and support for Russian CPUs from the kernel. There's also systemd weaseling its way into forcing compliance through ID checks.
On top of that, Linux is gaining mainstream appeal as "the gaming OS" thanks to the success of Valve's Steam Deck and internet influencers. Once the Steam Cube or whatever it's called hits shelves, there's a potential for Linux to overtake Windows unless Microsoft seriously cleans up its image for Windows 12. Windows as a whole seems to be getting phased out as gamers gain interest in Linux and non-gamers can get a cheap macbook now.

tl;dr Linux is becoming the new frontier for profit-minded entities and government organizations who seek to hold power over personal computing. The question now is where do FOSS enjoyers fit into this changing landscape? Try to build Devuan into something independent of Debian? Escape to *BSD? Cling to Gentoo and pray it doesn't become compromised?

I've used FreeBSD for a couple of years as my Desktop OS. If I really start hating on Linux, I'll install it again. But ultimately, it's all crap and I will maybe just get to writing my own OS if I even care by the time.

maybe you could have included a link or image that expanded on this instead of your furry bullshit.

(white people) corpo shit is good because a profit motive prevents shit like pop os! bricking itself when you install steam
so i use the white Man's os, fedora
gentoo/slackware is the way for the tinkerman thoughstever and id use one of those if you dont want to be corpo

Fine, I'll spoonfeed you https://vote.debian.org/~secretary/leader2026/results.txt
Some nocoder Indian woman is now the leader of Debian because nobody wanted to seem racist for voting against her. Nobody else even campaigned against her. She wants to incorporate age verification checks into Debian. She'll have access to all of Debian's funds which will likely be sent straight to India. She oversaw the coverup of the murder/neglectful death of a Debian developer. We've had threads about it >>108558603 and >>108625631

You know Poop OS! and Steam are profit motivated right?

Ok now you're just trolling.

We fork Debian and get rid of Linux, adopting the OpenBSD kernel instead.

Indians can't FOSS

i see it becoming more like android when it was supposed to be the other way around

I'd switch to OpenBSD today if it had ZFS support. I'll be migrating to FreeBSD for now but anons say it's also becoming compromised after adopting a code of conduct.

None of this after 2028 will happen because by then big tech will have already disabled and blocked every single OS that isn't Windows 12 (subscription based and AI first btw) through backdoors in the name of "protecting the children", and you won't be able to protest against it because anybody who even tries to think about it will be preemptively jailed and sent off to Venezuela when the global shadow government scans all their private data with Claude Mythos 2.0 (funded by Palantir).

I already mentioned slackware and gentoo for people who MUH HATE REDHAT ZOMG and want to spend as much time editing config files and compiling as they actually want to spend writing code.
>pop os is profit motive
so shit i had no idea lol, thoustever their profit comes from making laptops not from providing a server os like red hat so still checks out
>steam profit motive
completely irrelevant steam is not packaging itself for distros

I think it'll be used, paraded around and scapegoated as THE ultimate anti-windows 'fuck you' towards corporate control. It'll do extremely well and will have a mass influx of new users previously unthought of.
This will lead to the further homogenization and locking-down of Linux, and people will sweep it under the rug because 'at least it's not as bad as windows' whilst pointing and laughing.

only for goyim consumer equipment, linux will be a luxury for the globohomo masters and those with old machines will either be in enshittified controlled distros or on copefork distros as second class citizens left out of whatever lock down mechanism of the week that relies on globohomo approved ecosystem and attestation is pushed at the time. maybe there will be a divide if US/israel dominance ever begins to slip
>>
>>108632231
i can just see the people in tech rubbing their hands to turn our free lands into android 2 electric boogaloo. i see hardware backed attestation and locked bootloaders being pushed as a double whammy to force users into approved computing stacks or be left out as second class citizens just like it happens on android where they snuffed the custom ROM scene out and the crumbs that remain are infested by xiaomi pajeets

OP is a faggot. Linux furfags and Linux trannies are the most insufferable community subtype. The point of Linux is to secure yourself to a greater extent, not to secure yourself from the deepstate. You cannot secure yourself from the deepstate, the NSA or DHS, Palantir, DARPA, your ("deleted") internet footprint, anything at all. I do not understand how all of you are intelligent enough to maintain gentoo, yet so many of you are retarded enough to cope that you're protecting yourself from the government through FOSS. It's weird to me that furfaggot trannies usually only do this hobby out of the engine of their denial. I can almost always smell the grade-A retard cope from a mile away that always synthesizes to pure autism that works good enough to contribute.
>you are demoralizing
Do your research on all of what I mentioned then, and come back to me.

>>108631639

FOSS really is a pipe dream. The people that are naturally attracted to it are far too weak to defend it when its attacked by bad actors. Easy pickins for corporations.

>>108632515

You are exactly what's wrong with linux.

F.
I guess I'll be running gentoo or something.
>>
>>108633008
You can use LLMs and review the code, but you're probably too much of a fingerlover to understand the new quick deployment frontier. Otherwise, yeah take your sweet time and build a whole new organization. Surely they won't be mandated to do anything.
>>
>>108633008
I don't even think it's that fucking hard to reverse the age verification commits. They could probably do the same thing for systemd lol
>>
>>108631484

I get the impression you terminally online and watched a lot of Anthony Tech Tips before he lost his marbles. Linux has gotten some attention lately but only because Windows is so far off the mark. Now, if companies like Adobe start making their apps compatible? Then you got a conversation. But as it stands Windows is still the best all-around OS there is and this is coming from a macOS guy. Windows+Mac covers 100% of most people's needs. Linux covers 100% of the spectrum.
>>
I see a future where Linux has overtaken windows, but it's not at all what Linux users imagined.

It will be like fedora kinoite meets mobile OEM fragmentation: immutable, hard to break, noob friendly, but each OEM will push their own distribution and make it difficult or impossible to switch.
>>
Linux cannot overtake Windows on desktop, only a handful or one opinionated distribution that is open to listen to the uninformed non techie user can. The compromises to separate from server conventions (memory handling, terminal first), scattered and decentralized tools and awkward desktop UI/UX will hold it back
>>108632650
It's just too much time to waste trying to push for functionalities or defy convention for a better experience. That is not counting the coding and maintenance
>>108632515
Who has time for that?
>>
>>108631484
Yes Valve and Microsoft pushing the most subhuman group (gamers), was the killing move we needed.

Linus will see his toy os dead within his lifetime, as a punishment.
