In any case there's a good number of games on Steam you can buy and run without opening Steam, essentially being DRM free. The point of running the DRM tool is that you have cloud saves, an overlay with multiple functions and a web browser you can open ingame, steam input (which is actually really advanced), easy screen sharing and a way to very easily run 98% of windows games available on Steam on Linux, all without paying more than what you pay for the games.
Are they evil? Certainly, there's multiple controversies surrounding them. They invented microtransactions outside Asian MMOs. They changed a lot of terms and locked accounts behind a "you must accept these new terms to access your account". Everything they sell is digital and can go away. They set the bar really high on sales for a few years and then they got worse and worse to the point they were no longer deals. Unlike Epic, the free shit you get from it is disgusting. They actively unoptimized TF2 to the point where it ran about 800% slower without changing the graphics much from release. They only offer refunds because they got their assholes reamed about it and you can't trade your games at all. And in 3 decades they couldn't find a way to let you change your account name because "well it's complicated". And yet, Microsoft is considerably worse.

I bought that mac mini M4, the base model.
I have a laptop with a Ryzen 7840U CPU and 16GB of RAM as well.
Where the laptop wins is that I can install linux and get rid of 70% of performance issues, but on Windows it's not really that sluggish, once the bloatware is gone. Using shit like Everything for searching files is much faster than what the alternative is on macOS, that's for sure. And there is an alternative, a little tool that's basically a carbon copy of it. It's called Cardinal.
Anyways, all the reasoning (besides the fame it got for being openclaw machines) I see for the Mac Mini M4 is that it is faster with editing tools (Affinity V3 is considerably slower on Windows, there's a huge fucking difference, and I actually compared it with a much more powerful PC, not my laptop), and that it's less chinky. It only gets warm if you attach an external SSD. It boots in less than 10 seconds, it's very quiet, very inconspicuous.
