Can you still play games on these
>>108632583tfw they discontinued support for the ti89 series
>>108632617last i heard theyve been locking shit down more and ore for muh test anti cheating
>>108632617You can on the CE Plus. Not known with the Evo. Chances are it will be more locked down than previous versions.
>>108632583>faster clock speeds than a Nintendo DSI must be dreaming
>>108632653>>108632731Are there any calculators that are made for adults?I just want a calculator that doesn't give two fucks about high school bullshit. What do professional engineers use?
>>108633515The calculator they had in high school or college
>>108633515The HP Prime G2 is probably the closest thing to what you’re looking for. The Ti Nspire CX II CAS is close but still designed around exams as the keyboard cannot be qwerty or else it would be banned. The Ti-30X Pro MathPrint is pretty good as well but isn’t sold in the US.
Do calc emulators still exist? I remember having one for windows mobile 2003 on my ipaq back in the day.
>>108633584I never understood why qwerty is banned.I can understand wanting to prevent cheating on exams, but how the fuck is a keyboard layout relevant to that aim at all?
>>108632583>no CASuseless + e-waste + DOA
>>108633626It’s a captive market aka hunting in the zoo. TI can basically do whatever it wants. They’d much rather not have to innovate and risk having to compete.
>>108633626You could look at exam ahead of timeAnd spell out the answers in a memo pad on the calculatorCheating is for those who express no genuine passion for the material that they should be engaged in to master for the sake of knowledgeGo into college not wanting to do real studying employers will not want anything to do with you when they see you not picking up the slack because an easy out to cheat wasn't availableGrow up or get a blue collar job to pay for your degree
>>108633739And you can't do that on a non qwerty layout?
>>108633739>You could look at exam ahead of timeSince when can you look at exams ahead of time?
>>108632583Looks like shit + Will be outlawed because it can't age verify
>>108632635It was too powerful to be given to civillians
>>108633704>high school This is part of their high school range so it will automatically sell. Plus CAS is probably banned in their tests anyway
i thought graphing calculators were already a solved issue with the ti-89
>>108633626my hunch is that the TI-92 had a CAS and a keyboard and then they banned the 92 by banning the keyboardt. took the SAT with a TI-89
>>108633515They use R, Python, or Matlab. Calculators as discrete devices are pointless if you crunch a lot of numbers all day long.
>>108633515Casio FX-G9750-G3>inb4 no cas, color display, etcyou don't need more
>>108634133Too old and has no color screen nor python capabilities.
>>108633515professional engineers use computers
>>108632583they put an n-spire in a 84
>>108633515Buy an old HP 50g, the last calculator for adults
>>108633515>What do professional engineers use?this >>108633583>>108635944I still have my HP48. RPN 4 lyfe
>>108635944>>108636408modern bloat
>>108633515Python
Why do I need this when I have a literal computer in my pocket?
>>108633739I hacked my Casio calculator with a esp32, wifi and a camera last year to send some pics to Gemini and received the answers on screen. Lmao, get rekt.
>>108633448>faster clock speedsprobably most people just want a 60 seconds a minute clock speed.
>>108633584>>108636419Of course HP is still the GOAT of professional calculators, meanwhile Texas Instruments is just endlessly grifting the US education system with their overpriced toys.
>>108633515I use a ti30x2If I need more I use my computer, usually R
>>108632583Why would not I just buy a cheap smartphone? It can do everything a TI 84 can do and more. Just install a terminal emulator
>>108633739You can literally write programs on your computer and transfer them into the calculators. Being able to write fast on the calculator itself is a non-issue, the only thing I can think off is switching calculators with the neighboring examenee or something to trade answers
>>108632583I know it's not the first time, but feels weird to see python on a calculatorWell I guess it's a better choice than basic>the video calls the different modes "apps"I want off this ride
