This does not appear to be working at the moment on mobile. I'm not in the US east time zone, but dates/times are still showing as US east, and nothing happens when I toggle it on and off.
Possibly related: lately, when I tap on post times, the little bubble saying the time since the post hasn't been showing up.

Make sure the locale and TZ seen by your browser is correct, IIRC it uses that. Also some antifingerprinting extensions screw with your locale and timezone because that's (obviously) identifying information.
