It's downright criminal how hard they made battery replacement in phones. I could swap batteries in my Galaxy S2 in literally 20 seconds. Nowadays you need hair driers, heat guns or specialized heated trays to soften the glue and then of course you have to apply new glue when you're done.
sacrificed for muh waterproofing because idiots can't be trusted to take care of their tech
>get set up on a blind date by your mom for the first time ever>you get there early and ignore the staff while playing some anime game at the restaurant on your phone>date arrives>"ahh, ummm, let me just do something quick" you say as you swap out your battery which is almost completely drained with a fresh one from your cargo shorts>continue to play your animuu game and ignore your date while you order chicken tendies>date is so embarrassed they say they are going to the bathroom and they pay for the both of you and leave
>>108637390That's how they make you buy an entire new phone instead of just a battery, anon. It's just a regular scam. In a normal world people would be suing those companies, but in clown world nobody really cares, they just spend money to buy a new spy gadget.
company must make more money, it's not hard to understand
you know all the environmental shit is fraud bs because if it were real they would pass laws requiring that all computer hardware manufacturers remove all anti-repair mechanisms
>>108637742It's more that protecting the environment in a system where profit-maximizing is the only goal is as sensical as trying to fill up the barrel of the Danaides
I can remove my phone's battery in 5 seconds. You bought a smartphone, not a cell phone.
well it will be criminal in a few years in eu
I've owned the same phone for 7 years and I haven't changed the battery. I forgot if it's removable, I haven't taken it out the case in 6 years at least. It lasts exactly one day, because I use it for one day before I let it charge for the night. The screen is cracked at the top left but it doesn't bother me
>>108638078skill issue
>>108637515Samsung makes new phones with removable batteries. Waterproof, ruggedized ones even.
>>108637390my fairphone doesn't have this problem :^)
>>108638078>people who wants>wantSDropped.
>>108637742I always think this. The amount of waste these electronic companies produce is absolutely unthinkable I'm talking like a trash pile the size of a fucking country and then they give normal everyday people shit about using too much electric or using a plastic bag or something. It is pure evil.
my phone needs a battery replacement but with this specific phone prying it open and trying to cut through the glue has a very high, close to 100% chance you will break the screen so a screen replacement is almost always necessary toono idea what the aftermarket is like for this phone because i haven't done it yet but i don't want my screen to break, and i don't want to replace it with some chink shit that has bad colors.
>>108637390Didnt EU pass some sort of regulation regarding phone batteries?
What's the point in charging batteries? I change my phone every 5 years and it's battery still going strong. Do you want to use the same phone for 10 years?
>>108639265it's going on 9 years old now so yeahstill texts, still calls, still browses the internet, still can play music through bluetooth, still can record 4k videodon't see anything wrong here
>>108638297this was peak touch screen.
>>108638572at the cost of lame specsthe G5 I posted actually competed well with the other phones of its day
>>108639265Why not? I'm still using a 2019 phone and all the programs I use still work well (mind you, I don't use it for playing games). The only thing that's pushing me to upgrade is the battery not lasting as long, as replacing it requires prying off parts held down with adhesives, a dozen ribbon cables, and removing the motherboard. If my current phone had a battery door held in place with only a plastic clip, like my first smartphone, I could make this last a full decade and not create more e-waste.
>>108637390>>108637742>>108639235Yeah. Looking forward to that EU replaceable-battery law kicking in next year.>>108638572>>108638665The bastards removed the headphone jack though.
>>108637390>phonesWhy did you buy it instaed of a GPD laptop to install gentoo on?
>>108637515Wouldn't they want idiots to destroy their phones, forcing them to get a replacement?
>>108641331too variable, easier to just push a software update universally that torches your battery forcing everyone to buy a new one at the same time, looks much better on quarterlies than just hoping enough retards fuck up their phones at once
>>108637390Funny you say this
>>108641410SIEG!
>>108637390Why would you replace the battery? Just throw it out and buy a new one. Or are you poor?
>>108641410Eurocucks outed as being extremely poor. Just goes to show their economy is absolutely destitute.
>>108641474>>108641496Why don't you buy a new phone every day to show how wealthy you are?
>>108637390It ain't your right to repair shit bitch. We own your souls. We have IP rights on all the data your phone collects. (Not me I would make it legally required that you receive a sliding scale of profits
>>108637390batteries are designed to be compact and secure. you can fit a bigger battery in if you don't make it removable. increased battery size is also why they removed the headphone jack, even on non-appleslop brands where they don't have a proprietary wireless earbud to sell you.the easiest solution is to stop making 7-inch OLED screens or start making phones thicker, but the latter would harm heat dissipation unless you put in a heat pipe.
>>108641496That's right goy. You tell those other goys.
>>108637390>It's downright criminalIt is but we live now in a society anti human. Capitalism is the worst event in human history
>>108637615t'was a good date
>>108641474>>108641496Is this the best bait you niggers can come up with?
>>108638078Honestly this looks bad ass. I've stopped putting anything on my actual real cell phone except for contact list, texting and GPS. No browser, no banking, no social media, no games or apps, no YouTube or Google, no payment apps, nothing. I should be able to transfer to this phone without any issues if it can do gps/maps.
>>108641496They're basically socialists, what do you expect? Middle class over there would literally be poverty line in the US, yet they somehow also pay higher taxes. Amazing, honestly.
>>108637390Spicy take, but I'm perfectly alright with non serviceable batteries so long as nobody seems to give a shit about counterfeit batteries being sold on amazon, ebay, alibaba, etc.Several of my company's clients own apartment complexes, and the number of new policies invented specifically because of retards burning buildings down with shitty batteries boggles the mind. It was bad enough when dipshits were buying noname batteries for laptops. One of our clients had several fires directly attributable to those. Now with all the ebikes, power banks, vapes and god only knows what else they're literally putting up cameras in common areas to track people and send out cure or quit notices because it just keeps happening. The last fucking thing I want is for half the retards around me to be carrying incendiary grenades.
>>108637515>>108641331indeed it's not actually about water-resistance, it's about making sure you can't turn off power and be 100% certain it is off.just like online digital IDs is not about protecting children, it's about getting you to tie your internet activity to a super cookie so they can figure out who you are by comparing usage points. that's right: it's not even key that you use your real identity, the important part is that it's a hassle enough for you to make a new digital ID that you keep using the same one (the super cookie).
>>108637390>Nowadays you need hair driers, heat guns or specialized heated traysI just grabbed my gf's hair dryer and the replacement battery included new glue. its a little annoying to peel off the old glue, but the whole process isnt hard
