Where can I find other people who hate technology? I've noticed it's difficult to find people and filter by something they don't do rather than do.
>>108638368Outside I imagine
half of /g/ hates technology
you're in the right place
>>108638368Amish communities, anaprim communes, or hippie communes.
>>108638426and the other half knows jack shit about technology
I hate modern technology because it's designed to exploit the user instead of being just a tool. It's unethical, and wasteful. Companies will greenwash what they're doing, while wasting megawatt hours of electricity every day because of software bloat, eventually making perfectly working machines obsolete. They also manufacture unrepairable products that end up in landfills, while refusing to sell spare parts or provide schematics.Every year we do less with more and we have no privacy either at home or outside of it.
>>108638426I find it interesting that there is some gigantic overrepresentation of technology haters amongst the best programmers I know. It's almost like the more you learn about technology the more you hate it
>>108640198Normal people have no idea that their TV is spying on them, taking screenshots of what they're watching and sending it to a server, sometimes actively listening to their conversations. They have no idea that the brand new laptop they bought has a glued together screen assembly that costs almost as much as the laptop itself, or that the SSD is soldered and they're shit out of luck. They don't wonder why their phone or PC are getting slower, it's just what they do, right?
>>108638368Literally everywhere including here. Hating on tech is the mainstream normie opinion, you can't go five minutes without someone ree-ing about AI or brainrot etc, and ironically posting about how they've gone "analog" or taking a "digital detox" switched to dumbphones and shit despite putting it all over social media which requires a smartphone or PC.It's finding people who are genuinely enthusiastic about tech which is difficult thesedays. It seems like the vast majority of people conflate the shitty ways tech is abused by corporations, with technology itself. They won't make an effort to gain agency with technology, by researching local, FOSS solutions and learning how to make use of them. Instead they'll just act as a helpless victim whilst continuing to gobble up whatever big tech serves them.
>>108640300Oh, and before anyone brings up apple enthusiasts and such, they're not tech enthusiasts, they've just become attached their identity to a company. Apple could release stuff that's totally non-tech and they'd still love it, it's never actually about the tech. It's about the brand.
>>108640300>Literally everywhere including here. Hating on tech is the mainstream normie opinionAll of those people still spend their entire day on social media.>despite putting it all over social mediaexactly
>>108638368>Where can I find other people who hate technology?>Asked through technology on a technology boardgee I wonder why it's difficult for you
>>108638368>Where can I find other people who hate technology?out in the forest you retard, why are you even using a computer?
>>108640221Spying is one thing, it's the active behavior manipulation via dark patterns and repeatedly being forced through menus with ads that I can't fucking stand.
>>108640600which comes as a result of spying, no spying no that
>>108638368I have an app for that.
>Inb4 L U D D I T E
L U D D I T E
>>108640642idk if it's a direct consequence but the same people who do the spying do the manipulating.I'd argue the spying is done to support the manipulation (and the manipulation justifies the spying) not the other way around.
>>108638368After having a federal agent break fisa to use a backdoor and broadcast my pixel’s screen to an unknown chromecast whilst on vacation and then being harassed in person with music and media I absolutely despite not only politics, federal agents but also technology.
>>108640660yeah I guess so what I meant was they go hand-in-hand I'm just too retarded this time of day

>>108640198I have a close friend who has been the smartest person I've known since middle school, who has been in AI for over a decade and was CTO of his start-up until the CEO fired for refusing to lie to investors. He absolutely hates AI now and refuses to do AI work for any other business despite the money he could make, says it's nothing but venture capital scammers.
my internet presence these days is as followsand by this i mean has an account, is registered to, has an email attached to, etc, sometimes i browse other things>4chan, obviously>1 hobby specific traditional forum>1 social game>gmail>my banks website>my credit card and auto loans website>my car insurance provider>my mobile phone service provider>a furry convention registration portal>a tollway pay by plate serviceand that is itanything else is abandoned, as i find other things out there i get them deleted, and its wild to think that about a year ago i wouldnt be able to even cover 10% of that potential list, the true amount of internet connections would be absolutely gigantici deleted my paypal of 14 years, i deleted my steam account of 11 years, i deleted all of my gaming accounts, i deleted my gog account, i deleted my discogs, bandcamp, allflacs, pandora and rym accounts, all of my old abandoned forum accounts if i could delete them, i have deleted them or made them unusablei use a macbook at home, i havent had a traditional smartphone in over 4 years now and my current resting place is an android go flip phone which i only use for calls, texts, 2fa and mobile check depositsi got paper maps, like a i bought a fuckin road atlasmy home computer other than the macbook is entirely offline, it runs windows xp and plays some old games and has office 2007i havent had a social media account since 2016, no facebook, instagram, twitter or any alternative, no discord, skype or any alternativemy philosophy is that the internet i want is gone and is never coming back, there is no emulating it or tailoring the modern web to be at least tolerable, so i choose to partake as little as possiblewithin the next 5 years i expect to be doing paper banking, landline only phone management of things like insurance and loans, and exclusively working off of the offline-only xp computer
>>108640670You purchased and or put your private data into a Zionist Jew productOf course you got screwgledPoop covered hands manufacture that filthy deviceIm not the health department inspector asking Indian employees to wash their handsBut whitey is just as guilty of not washing after shoving TP up their cornhole
>>108638368I don't hate technology but I think pretty much all the tech since the mid 90s has beed doing more harm than good simply because it's gotten too good to the point that the pottential for control is too great for governments and big corporations to not use it that way. The only piece of technology that I think is a true issue in itself are contraceptive pills because I don't think they are compatible with the continuity of the species. For the rest, it's not the technology that's the problem but the jews and sociopaths in power abusing it.

>>108638368I have the same problem as you, I also hate modern technology yet everyone online worships it even when they know it's crap.
4chan's tech board in particular is stuffed full of thouse people, I post stuff here and almost instantly it gets taken down
