What's the point of soundbars when speakers exist?
>>
>>108638584
But soundbars are speakers.
>>
enthusiasts want to carefully select speakers and a receiver but normies don't want to fuck with it. they just want better sound than their TV. it's basically a convenience tax.

I have a dual monitor setup and im reaching the conclusion that I need a soundbar because theres no way of placing 2 speakers in a symmetrical way because the monitors arent placed symmetrically. Im not near a wall either so I cant just bolt the speakers to a wall or something like that

for some reason women hate large speakers. I read somewhere it's because they fundamentally recognize it's the only thing capable of being louder than them.

I was close to getting a soundbar but got some speakers instead. I was only considering very cheap ones and they sounded like total shit and evidently good ones cost like $500+. That'll buy better speakers. Sonos was most recommended but the reviews said you literally cannot use them without an app. What utter jewish nonsense.

I imagine it's just a convenience thing. Easy 1-stop-shop for sound, just plug in the hdmi and you're good to go.

I've never used one myself because my dad was always a huge audio nerd, so I always had free access to unlimited high quality speakers, receivers, etc. So I would just bum stereo equipment off him. But it does seem more compact and convenient. For instance on my desk setup, I have a receiver and two bookshelf speakers, and all that takes up space. Would be nice if I could just have a soundbar instead, I suppose.

Seriously I hope none of you niggers used closed back headphones when openback headphones exist.
>>

Convenience, supposedly. People just want to buy <<thing>> that they just plop down under their TV with no effort whatsoever and it sounds kinda better than the built-in TV speakers at least.

I use and have both. Open are good for some things and closed for a few other things. For most things I'd say open are better and if you're going to have a single headphone I'd recommend open as well, but closed have their place.
>>

normies buy em cause they fit under the tv which is nice and they sound exactly like the tv cause they use the same speaker drivers as the damn tv which is stupid
an LG C5 (listed on the site as "2.2" so 2 way speakers?) sounds good enough on its own with to obsolete the cheaper ones
normie audio has just been slop since those idiotic edgy micro systems of the 2000s, all aesthetics no quality
there was always slop in consumer hifi, but those things were particularly popular and particularly bad and killed consumer hifi to bring about endless era of BT speakers and soundbars that are also BT speakers but bigger and somehow still shitter than the jbl that fits in a cupholder
>>
>>108641442
Hmm I dunno man I can barely hear my wife who's desk is against the wall 90 degrees next to mine when she's talking to me to the point we get in a Teamspeak6 call sometimes to talk when I have my HD800S on. But if you're in a noisy environment where the openback headphones aren't enough then I guess that's a valid use case yea. I've never been in such an environment. Not even
my toddler playing in the room
makes enough noise to need closed headphones. May just be lucky to have a quiet wife and kid tho.
Hope they at least sound tolerable. I couldn't do it. I'd rather have to liisten to a lawnmower in the room than deal with closed back headphones personally. Have tried the Fostex TH900 and Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro and they both are just the worst listening experience, even if the 770 are max comfy. I wish someone would buy them off me but haven't found someone willing. Basically brand new.

DT-770s are basically built for studio recording but I don't mind how they sound. I have the upgraded DT-1770s and apply a little EQ to raise the mids and they sound fine to me.
>>
>>108641520
Not very loud. I can hear the AC a little bit tho (we have a window unit in the hobby room where our PCs are since the central cooling can't keep up with 2x 5090 FEs, air compressor (airbrush/paint station), and our home server. I can hear her mouse click and her talk when nothing is playing. I listen at save levels.
If someone was screaming/crying I'd definitely hear it. But no one screams in this house thankfully (growing up I was not so lucky).

>Most people aren't mentally ill and don't invent imaginary issues with normal headphones
No issue with normal headphones (openback). The only use case where normal headphones (openback) are not preferable is in noisy environments. Most of us are not sitting in a studio with early solid state or late tube electronics (loud whine of coils/tubes was a big reason closed back monitors were preferred) or producers standing behind us talking thus the use case of closed-back headphones is dubious at best.
>EARBUDS (fuck your fake acronym, they are what they are no matter how many layers of rebranding you throw at them)
IEM or in-"ear monitor" predates the term "earbud" by about 5 years. It's the original term while earbud was marketing jargon coined for the consumer market due to the de facto industry term "ear monitor" being trademarked once it was clear it would be a standard. So no, technically the audio industry was exclusively calling them "ear monitors" or "earpieces" in the late 70s/early 80s. Earbud didn't enter the English language until shortly after Future Sonics slapped a trademark on the industry term "ear monitor" in 1985 to cement themselves as the foremost "ear monitor" producer. During this time period (the mid 80s) there was a distinction between "ear monitor" or "ear phone" and "ear bud." The former was inserted into the user's ear canal for isolation while the later rested on the concha (the opening outside of the canal, you know where Apple Earbuds rested back in the iPod days). There was no need for the prefix "in-" at the time since "ear phone" or "ear monitor" was obviously inside of your ear as "head phone" or "head monitor" was the one that rested on your head and on/around your ears. "Ear bud" was given the distinction of not in-canal but in-concha or on-canal. But given the energy you've put out in your deranged rant I'd imagine you'll completely ignore this interaction and continue tilting at windmills.

Get tall floor speakers and put them next to the entertainment center. Or get front ported speakers and mount them to the wall. It was nicer back when entertainment centers were smaller and the TV fit inside of them, instead of essentially being long tables, I'll give you that.

No definitely not. You'll be disappointed as it won't be that much of a setup compared to the on-board C1 speakers. Just get a Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 instead. You can find them used/clearance around 100 easily and they'll sound an order of magnitude better. If you don't have space just lay them on their side under your display on either end and use the sub as a footrest.
