I have a Oneplus 12r and it's still going strong. Bought it for really cheap like 6-700 canadian, still has enough battery life to go all day without charging.

Buddy, Android is just a poor man's iPhone knock off these days. Just use the real thing and grow up.

Brother, I used to have a Oneplus 7 pro back in the day, you could literally run Kali Linux(nethunter) on that thing including all the network Aircrack-ng attacks. You can run a custom rom like graphine on androids, if you are not a fan of rooting you can at the very least run a tool like wireshark on your phone and harden it by disabling all the invasive stuff you don't like. It might do you good to browse some threads here before reply nigger.

I'm upgrading from a moto g stylus 2022 to a pixel 10a. was going to just get the stylus 2025 for $99 but the 10a was $100 more and it's good for 7 years of updates instead of just 2 for the stylus.

Based choice my fren, I used to own a pixel 6a, great phones.

>>108638820
I am not saying buying older used iphones is a dumb decision, I am just saying they are a lazy choice and people who with a heard mentally are stupid enough to spend 2k on the "latest" iphone. Buying an iphone is only justified if you don't use your phone for 12 hours a day like a zoomer and if you use an actual computer for everything and store your private stuff on it.

>android flagships cost exactly the same if not more as iphones
Don't buy a samsung brother, there are alot of other cool brands like nothing or google, which are way cheaper and reliable.
>get your money up wagie im not buying a chink xiaomi
I don't think they can even sell xiaomi stuff in north america. I admit Oneplus is owned by Oppo (a chinese company) but they are way different from their parent company, you can easily disable anything you don't like. Lenovo is also a chinese company but go ask the anons in the thinkpad general what they think about privacy of their laptops, I'd rather have chinese spyware than american spyware. Rule of thumb is to not keep anything too private on your phone. Also, pick a lane buddy..

Oneplus 9 with Lineage. Loved it for a while, but the battery started swelling slightly after 2 years, and I just got green lines in my screen. Also they cuck your camera if you don't have their special camera app. Never again. I just ordered a Pixel 10, will be using with Graphene.

Which is like half of the point? A normal person doesn't want to spend hours researching on which android phone doesn't drop updates after a year, has some glaring flaw, too much bloatware and so on. With iPhone you can grab w/e shit they are selling at the moment and it will be good enuff and you won't have to ever think about your phone for the next 5+ years.

I know my friend, I would love to give up smartphones and only use my laptop or pc but the reality is every "functioning" human being needs a phone in todays age. Especially, with the shorts/tiktok epidemic it's rotting the brains of all the teenagers, even I am not immune to it. I wish we went back to the nokia era of mobile phones but kept all the current PC technology that we have today, that would be great.

I use a Samsung Galaxy A25:
>256GB/8GB for cheap.
>Headphone jack.
>MicroSD slot.
>AMOLED.
>120Hz.

I just wish the notch was a punch hole, that the bezels and chin were thinner, and that it didn't overheat so much, probably thanks to the Exynos chip. It's a decent smartphone for the price though, I'm happy with it.

It is well known that apple scans all your images/media with AI to detect "CSAM", all to protect the kids since they care about them so much. Just imagine if they are willing to admit that, what else they might be able to do without you knowing. I use a Samsung M31 I got for 300 eurobux in 2019.
It still runs youtube, whatsapp banking apps and chrome just as well as the day I bought it and that's 99% of my usage, so I just have no reason to change it.
The oled screen has some burn in but it is not noticeable. The battery lasts way less now but it' not enough of an issue to justify the switch.
I briefly felt like buying the goyphone 17 just to try out an Apple phone for the first time, but even then I just didn't feel the need other than for novelty sake.

Not sure if good place to ask but;

Currently using an S10+ still works fine haven't had any compatabilty issies with apps yet.

Looking upgrade to either a Sony Xperia 1 VI or VII from Hong Kong. Reside in the USA and said model is missing a few bands but the connection can't be that much worst than my 4g phone can it? Also is the VI the better choice of the 2 since it has less of a risk of defects that the VII potentially can have, right?

Also I've read that Wifi calling doesn't work out the box in the US and you have to jump through some hoops to enable it along with 5G(no root required). Will the phone be more trouble than it's worth to make functional in the US? Or am I just overthinking things, as the guide seems pretty dummy proof.

I really just want a quality phone with minimal to no bloatware and AI features. i don't care much for samsung's services and apps. I was contemplating importing an iphone 17(simcard model) because I've read the CH/HK have a lot of ai features disabled, but I'm not too keen on having to sign up with apple or losing access to a browser with adblock

Any other anons with similar desires? What do yoy use and what would you suggest I go with?
>>
>>108642142
I wanted a 5 5 but I simply could not justify the sony tax, plus the screen on the 5 series is known to be unreliable.
They botched the form factor of the later models so absolutely zero interest in sony now.
As for the mobile network thing it's best to see if anyone on the same carrier as you can confirm that it actually works, also be aware that any "fixes" you apply may be invalidated with updates.

but yep i have recommended these phones to a lot of people in the past. theyre pretty good.

i liked oneplus more back when oxygenOS was still its own thing and not a coloros bloated mess. but yeah, their phones have awesome hardware for reasonable prices (15r for ~450€ on aliexpress)
how many years of updates to they give to their phones tho? i checked on gsmarena and it doesnt say anything

Motorola Edge 30 Neo

got it 2nd hand in very good condition in early 2024 for 120€, so it has served me well for 2 years by now.

I got it bc it has stock Android and is relatively compact. Camera is alright, performance is alright, display too, OLED even. And it charges rapidly with 68W, it's full in like 20 min.

my gripes with it are that security patches ended last autumn, battery drains quickly and it's not waterproof

I'm considering getting an iPhone 16e to replace it bc I just want a somewhat compact affordable phone that just werks and doesn't come with bullshit
>>
>>108638682
Help me out Nigels! Saw some chink phones with actual full T9 style keyboard and recent android system. The screen is like 2.7", which is almost an ideal for me. The fucking punchhole and main camera is only 8MP. Also the camera is centered, so the thing wont fucking dance on the table. The name is Duoqin Qin F25.
Can I find something similar with better cam?
>>

>how many years of updates to they give to their phones tho?
Citing their website, that google gemini search thing says: "4 years of major Android OS updates and 6 years of security patches for flagship devices (starting from the OnePlus 13/13R and some 12 series)". Too bad my 12r will stop receiving major updates by feb 2028.

>15r for ~450€ on aliexpress
Cool, I will check it out. I don't know if getting a CN version of the OS is a good idea though, that one is guaranteed to have some ccp spyware in it and I don't know how complicated is it to flash the newer devices with another version of the stock rom.

Nope, I already have a dumbphone. I constantly have to walk during the winter with the smartphone which does not register finger touches in my usual mittens and I do not want to freeze my hands. Physical buttons will always be superior to shitty touchscreens.
The punchhole camera is bearable here, can be taped over, business as usual. The shitty main camera is the only deal breaker.

I use a Moto G 5G 2024. I picked this phone because the last 3 namebrand phones I bought (Samsung Galaxy S21, Pixel 8, and Pixel 9) all had hardware issues that lead them to early deaths. I figured if these companies are selling pieces of shit anyways, I might as well just get the cheapest piece of shit.

This phone has held up better than any of the previous 3 phones I posted. It runs LineageOS, and is more than enough for what I need. (web browsing, OSRS mobile, and my banking app)

It's slower than any of the 3 flagships I owned before, but honestly, its fast enough. Camera was the biggest downgrade, but I sort of knew that going in, and I'm not the type that uses the camera very much anyways.

I also have the OP Nord 4. Bought it after my Xperia 1 IV shit the bed. Actually surprised by how much I like it. I thought that this would be a significant downgrade since the Sony horn was 3x the price at launch. But, a pleasant surprise, build quality is excellent, it's just as fast, the camera is *ahem... fine, the battery life is really good and the charging rate is amazing. Honestly, it almost feels like "the flagship killer" in the sense that, I'm not going to get 3x or even 2x the phone if I pay that much more. I'll ride this thing until the wheels fall off and then probably get another OP Nord phone or some other mid-ranger because I don't really understand what you get for $1000 that you don't get for $400.
