What stopped people from barking back at Linus when he did this shit? Why not just devolve into a dog fight and just start hurling shit at each other?

Why would you just take this? It's open sores, he can't fire you.

him being right

damn, that was really in the epstein files?
>>
>>108639286
Red Hat can fire that guy
>>
Linus was almost always right and if you barked back you would just further build your image as fucking idiot. Because he was right and you weren't.
>>
acting like that is how you make progress
acting like nuLinus with his daughter's CoC shoved up his ass is how you get modern linux
>>

FPBP.

>Creator of the kernel says it isn't the application but the kernel itself as the issue
HOLY BASED.

>2.X kernel for 20 years
Things that make you go: Hmmmmmmmmmmm....
>>
>>108639326
>>108639299
But what is it had nothing to do with right or wrong? Why not just make the fix and call him a faggot as you did it?
>>
>>108639349
because it'd be you doubling down on being a retard, publicly, against a man who is widely respected even if you think his merits are overrated
>>
>>108639361
And what does that respect get you? Seems like a bunch of pussy nerds that can't bark back because they fear the master.

What is the consequence of looking like as big of a dick as Linus?
>>
It's hilarious because I was having ENOENT errors in github codespaces earlier for some inexplicable reason. My workaround was to use
copilot
within the VS Code terminal just to get the agent back into a functional state (the agent couldn't find the "terminal", every time it tried it would return ENOENT)
>>
>>108639376
Why dont you piss yourself on the street then? What's stopping you from being a complete retard in public? Afraid of what others will think?
>>
>>108639376
you don't seem to understand
>>
>>108639391

What does it matter your PRs are still reviewed and your work is still getting committed to the main branch? Actually he started going to anger management when the nerds crashed out on him IRL.

So again, put aside your pajeet subservient instincts for a moment: what's the point of being cordial? Why not just match his energy? Anyone really going to give a shit that you also claimed him in the PRs as well?

I think you nerds are afraid to show strength in this world
>>
>>108639426
So you have no idea what goes on the kernel development mailist. Got it.
>>
>>108639434
Is it an open source project or is it a cult?

It's not a refutation.

Why take it personally? Linus is just focused on the quality of the product.
>>
>>108639592
Because he made it personal? Why not just match his energy? He can also choose not to take it personally.
>>
>>108639348
BSD exists for a reason.
>>
>>108639592
op is a pajeet obsessed with being respected and not having his feelings hurt so his mind can't comprehend not taking it personally.

and all the fears you hold so dear
>>
>>108639616
The pajeet never speaks back. They are naturally subservient to their masters AKA Linus.

You're actually Indian. Show h1b plox.

No one has explained why you can't clear back at it yet by the way.

Pajeets please explain Help barking back at a person who treats you like shit makes you look worse in front of others?

Most people are too preoccupied with their own lives in existence to really give a damn about how two people had a spat.

Anything, being the only person to actually bark it back at line is would probably get you more respect and more followers of your own.

Come on /g/eets, tell me

>>
>>108639761
In the case of OP, the guy getting yelled at introduced a bug in the kernel and then tried to squirm about it, blaming the userspace program that broke because of the bug.
You're not going to earn the respect of anyone by clapping back after causing so much trouble. You're just going to look like a tool
>>
>>108639822
Okay so what if you weren't a total two faced bitch? What if you were just presenting a PR and he didn't like it? Like the Google engineer trying to get RISC-V code in and linus gets personal in the review? I'm sure there are more examples.
>>
>>108639849
It would still be unprofessional to start an emotional shouting match in the mailing list, especially if it spirals off topic from kernel development. Nobody actually wants to read that stuff, and it reflects bad on you and your team.
Besides, I don't remember seeing Linus get confrontational without the other party being wrong about something and then insisting it's all good.
I'm not saying Linus' way of dispensing feedback is perfectly ok with me, but there's nothing to gain from getting sassy with him
>>
Linus has been wrong before
>>
>>108639349
>>108639376
Whites don't engage in Izzat culture, which I'm sure you'll find difficult to understand.
>>
>>108639286
That's a flawed ideology, users fuck shit up all the time.
>>
>>108639592
>Why take it personally?
Because Linus has one rule, and one rule only: do not break the user space.
The rest of the Linux community despises having a working user space, go above and beyond to break it by lack of standardization and changing protocols on a whim, breaking any and all compatibility, then gaslighting everyone into believing this is "diversity of choice of GNU+Linux" and therefore it is it's "strength".
>>
>>108640024
truthnuke. its why megacorps take the kernel and make their own entire os. imagine your industry relying on a bunch of retarded tinkertroons lmao.
>>
>>108639986
I can smell the curry from here. Only an Indian would dick suck muh ceo of Linux so much.
>>
>>108639286
He's right about ENOENT but he's wrong about not breaking userspace in this case. It isn't the Kernel's job to maintain (presumably) undocumented behavior to maintain compatibility; pulseaudio/tumbleweed should not have been relying on that sort of thing.
>>
>>108639286
you'll notice that Linus doesn't call Mauro an idiot or insult him directly
>he tells him to shut up
>he explains why his approach is wrong
>he calls his code crap
but he keeps it impersonal enough that neither Mauro's quality as a person outside of programming, nor his ability to learn from this screw up are brought into question
that's why everyone party to this exchange at the time probably came to this conclusion >>108639299 instead of going "woooww Linus is such an asshole and a bully, this isn't fair at all!!"
>>
>>108639951
In this specific bug, Mauro was being a condescending cunt about it while saying "works on the programs I want them to work so it is not my problem". Linus was correct in putting him in his place.
>>
Wait so could I make a userspace app that intentionally breaks if a kernel security bug gets fixed then bitch to Linus for breaking my user space?
>>
>>108640228
>a userspace app that intentionally breaks if a kernel security bug gets fixed
that's called a malware
>>
>>108639299
Mauro was right though
>>
>>108639299
Fucking THIS. He was absolutely correct. If a kernel change causes use programs to break, you don't blame the user programs. If you delete a font containing specific glyphs from your machine, you don't blame your terminal emulator for suddenly being unable to display those glyphs. It's just common sense.

>>108639348
That's better than the bullshit Firefox does, in which every minor fix increases a full number, so now it's hitting version 150 that makes no fucking sense.

Autists are drones, that's why. They are emotionally stunted and can take weeks, sometimes months, to realize what was going on in a particular exchange.
