DJI Drones use an activation via server method to call home and activate their drones. Because China: VERY constricted and over controlled with their activations. I feel for how controlled the society is. It doesn't take but a second to find thousands of people who have purchased drones and cannot get DJI to activate wince they did not buy them NEW from DJI. These are not drones that are locked to someone's account or stolen. These are drones that have been purchased and used then re-sold with their accounts cleared via signing out and removing the drone from DJI user accounts. Effectively inactivating them so that another user can sign in and continue to use them. Most do get activated, but for whatever reason only DJI can answer, they request everything down to a blood sample (not really) and end up not activating the drone for a second hand user even with a sales receipt, sign in to a DJI account and bind the drone to their account, then request activation and get denied. This has happened to myself, 2 friends, and several people within groups I frequent. Currently I have 2 drones that are bonded to MY account, with proof of purchase from a second hand reseller (bonded to my account means not stolen, not on another account) and DJI sent me through a 2 week email chain that ended in "nope". I do not have the technology to capture the traffic from the drone to DJI to find out what it takes to activate them. I also do not possess the ability to inject code into the DJI Fly app to spoof an activation. However if someone did possess such ability, they would make a KILLIN if they made the software or hack available (a jailbreak if you will). Where does one find someone skilled enough to put them on this idea?
why not just buy new drones

>>108648190Pretty sure someone does this. I'm looking at buying a Matrice 4T for work, and the company I'm probably going to buy it from ships them "unlocked", but they have no implied warranty through DJI because of that.

(2016ish) fuck the assholes flying these things toward planes.
