Is there a level of intelligence needed for someone to make it in the cybersec area?Is someone with say, 110 iq, able get a necessary cert to get a job?
>>108656579>able to getFixd
>>108656579No. Hard cut off is 130. I'm sorry anon
>>108656710No chances of me ever getting an OSCP or CISSP?
>>108656579Given how often my credit cards stop working because of "security" it seems obvious that any 70 IQ jeet can get into security now. It's almost impossible to buy anything anymore with them. I carry around $3000 in cash now because I can't be bothered with this shit anymore.
>>108656579If you were born with a vagina then you can get in as long as you can fill out the employment form
>>108656773I have the CISSP
>>108656579its an indian level janny job. people think they're hacking. no you're literally hr web nannies. you sit at some fucking company and approve peopled dumb ass requests for software. that's what you fucking do. a retarded baby could do. once a day they randomly approve one person to get visual studio or slack or photoshop access. one a week you remote desktop some other retarded babys pc to see why their email is broke. enjoy.
>>108656579Except for the true geniuses, security nuts and bolts are best accomplished by above average but not actually smart people. This is because being extremely organized and methodical even when things are extremely boring is essential. A lot of smart people have been able to get by throughout their lives by having their smarts save them from their lack of organization and discipline. When doing boring shit, smart people get sloppy because they daydream. They often have a much greater opinion of their memory than hard evidence would suggest.People that are above average but know they're not truly smart can excel by being mercilessly organized, disciplined, and paranoid. Also, being in security is like always being up to your chest in flooding waters, there's going to be a ton of murky shit you don't truly understand. Smart people are used to crisply understanding the entirety of things, and when they're in over their head it can be tremendously stressful for them. For merely above average people, though, not being able to understand the entirety of almost anything means security is simply business as usual, no big deal. Finally, smart people can be severely underconfident and severely overconfident at inappropriate times. Both are bad. Sometimes the situation calls for just plain old fashioned normal confidence, and above average people can keep an even keel during high stress incidents.I'd say forget the certs unless you find them to be a burden, and instead learn as much as you can about procedures, methodologies, actual case studies, best practices, etc. Maybe try to be someone they could visualize having their shit together enough to talk to customers, etc. I hope this makes sense. There are a lot of really fucked up people in security, though, be cautious.
