Are you worried that programmers/swe's are being replaced by AI?
>>
text generator is not replacing anybody

Im looking forward to the benefits AI will bring to software development. AI is going to democratize coding in a big way, and now that it is here, we can only adapt, it has come to stay. Maybe coders will be sacrificed, but that is eventually going to be a net positive for the industry and the customers. Future of software is going to get more people orianted, less autistic.
>>
As a programmer, I'm more worried that it won't replace us and we are being lied to.

This, it BETTER replace us!

cope. you are going to be replaced
>>

It's been years already and there are years to come. Anyone you're trying to goad today is going to be retired before then.

Software development is UNETHICAL. Looking at a screen all day with polarized lights will give you CONSTANT headaches. And the crunching can get brutal, when the higher ups expect you to solve problems faster than you can think. AI is just more efficient and less costly OwO

Only juniors are being replaced by AI and the consequences of this are going to be unprecedented. We are sitting on a ticking bomb and soon all the technical debt will compound resulting in tons of vibe codded websites, systems and other shit being compromised. Or the bubble will simply burst, VCs money will vanish and vibe coding will be prohibitively expensive and so reduced to auto-completion with extra steps designed for experienced engineers who know what they are doing.

yes. and there's no way to solve it

>Oooh Noooo, the SKY is falling DOWN.
Has there ever been anything else than doom and gloom with you people? Dont you have anything positive to say about AI? FANG seems to have many positives...
>>
>>108661968
nope

No, I acknowledge there are good uses of machine learning - self-driving cars, mineral exploration, etc. But I do think the negatives outweigh the positives especially with LLMs.

As an AI Engineer I'm thrilled ;)

What I am saying is very positive. AI is not the end of the world.

>Dont you have anything positive to say about AI?
I recently implemented markov chain in JS and trained it on my schizo friend rambling. This was really hilarious.
I also implemented genetic algorithm to model frogs trying to get through a obstacle course. After ~500 generations there was a breakthrough and they literally broke the simulation.
AI is very fun.

AI is the end of Luddites' world, though. No more LeetCode, no more soft skills, all that matters now is output, as it should always have been.

Like I said, that will just result in technical debt.
>>

No, I don't want to work at a company. Have you worked in the industry at all? They treat employees like dirt, and you often have to jump through hoops for 5+ interviews just to be given a generic rejection email.

I said the same thing about AI art and I'll say the same thing about programming: You are ultimately framing programming as "what can I do for a gay company," but I think, "What can I do for ME?"

Who cares if some gay company won't hire you? Should you then just not use or cultivate skills and knowledge that would objectively make you a more capable and competent person in your overall life? Because that's what you guys are basically saying:
>AI is taking jobs, therefore it's pointless to possess skills

That's absolutely retarded. It's insanely liberating to be able to do things yourself instead of having to pay for it and/or agree to some gay terms-of-service. It sure beats being the kind of person who becomes helpless when the internet goes down.

The dumbest AI is still better than the average jeet companies hire, stop being a retard.
