Had no issues with it myself. Also you can use void-packages either from the official github or from other githubs to build from source like with the AUR.

It was fun to set it up. I went for MangoWC (wayland) while keeping everything as stock Alpine as I could and avoiding systemd/freedesktop parts as much as I could. I did install dbus, but part of me thinks I could avoid that. Alpine has the making of a great, lightweight politics free distro, but I'm worried that it is not actually that, so I'm switching to OpenBSD for my 4GB laptop (but I will try Alpine again later on a stronger computer to give it a fair shake).
