>no forced systemd>no forced wayland Mogs every major distro When are you coming home to the Void, anon?
How does it counterbalance the lack of RPM and DEB support?
>>108665075It doesn’t “counterbalance” it—you just stop relying on distro-specific packages.XBPS + source builds + Flatpak/AppImage covers basically everything.
>voidlol, Virtuesignaling On Internet Distro
>>108665095>Virtual Signaling On The Internet Distro>VSOTIDThat doesn't spell Void
>>108665075You just use xdeb that converts deb packages into void packages. Just make sure you don't brute force it when it shows an error or else you might rape yourself, or at least so I've heard. Had no issues with it myself. Also you can use void-packages either from the official github or from other githubs to build from source like with the AUR.
>>108665095Is the person who made that tweet even part of the team? I feel like this distro has a revolving door of devs.
>>108665070IMPORTANT REMINDERVoid has 2 major versions. glibc and mulCHADS use glibcTRANNIES use muslChoose wisely
>>108665070why not just use Alpine? it has no systemd, uses musl and busybox, and doesn't come with any display server/compositor. also it's used as the base for containers, so it has great software compatibility. I know Mental Outlaw hasn't made a video about it, so maybe you never heard of it...
>>108665171This advice is indeed based true and real
>2026>not using an immutable distro
>>108665095>Complaining about this when the creator of Linux and GNU are open communistsChuds are so stupid
>>108665199NTA but I did like Alpine. I'm very surprised how much software is available on the testing repo. The maintainers seems gigacringe though, so it spooks me a bit. Also not sure how well some of the proprietary software I use for work will work on Alpine. I just had it installed on my laptop I keep next to my server since it only has 4GB of RAM. It was fun to set it up. I went for MangoWC (wayland) while keeping everything as stock Alpine as I could and avoiding systemd/freedesktop parts as much as I could. I did install dbus, but part of me thinks I could avoid that. Alpine has the making of a great, lightweight politics free distro, but I'm worried that it is not actually that, so I'm switching to OpenBSD for my 4GB laptop (but I will try Alpine again later on a stronger computer to give it a fair shake).

>>108665514Alpine specifically said no xlibre for political reasons. The political reason for that belief is because xlibre was open to everyone, even chuds. Void is superior to Alpine because even with tranny programmers they aren't shoving their CoC and politics down your throat. In fact, it's nice to see a leftist, even or maybe even especially a troon, that isn't forcing a dogmatic belief on others. The stupefied transformation of the "left" since Occupy Wall Street is astounding to say the least.
