I am torn between buying a new laptop or mini pc. This will be my only computer for both home and office use, with my old laptop only for emergency.
I always use a laptop with a mouse, but if I switch to mini pc, I would have to add a keyboard and a small monitor too, and be less portable. Wdyt

Can't you just ask your workplace for a laptop, make friends with the IT in charge of distributing laptops so he gives you a good model, and flash the BIOS to get rid of any corporate glowniggery they install to it so you can use it personally as well?

laptop

a minipc is just a laptop without a battery, screen, keyboard. Basically a toy for people who have already met Maslow's hierarchy of needs

That sounds like a security nightmare.
But how would that do? You're still using your laptop's processing power, not that of your desktop. Idk enlighten me.

laptop is the obvious choice. mini desktop or whatever the fuck is only viable if you're a 70 iq retard

Your setup in the picture looks silly.

You can purchase 16-inch OLED screens that are powered by a single Thunderbolt 4/5 cable, so you won’t need any huge plugs or cables.

Just buy some velcro and a cover for your Mac Mini, attach the velcro to the cover and display cover, hook up your external OLED display using a 0.5m Thunderbolt cable.

One power cable going from your machine to plub, entire setup.
It's semi portable, I'd wait for m5 mini.

Get a keyboard with a miniPC built-in.
its arguably the worst of both worlds, but it does solve the problem of having to find a keyboard for your pc.

I think a mini pc with a portable usbc monitor and wireless kb/b is a nice combo, I’m plugging my laptop in wherever I go anyway.

Laptop is way more convinient if you're gonna carry it around often. Get a macbook air. It's like $1100 and can even game semi-deccently.

mini pc's are comfy and cheap.
i use mine to play old PC titles and emulate PS1 games.
I will not stand for the slander.

Depends on how much you plan on transporting it. It sounds like you're going to do it every day so laptop makes more sense. Minipc is better if you're autistic about keyboards and screen Quality, or you plan on running it kinda hard.
