the year of the linux smartphone is way more urgent than the year of the linux desktop imhoandroid is a way bigger offender than windows
>>108667129unless they get volte working it will never happen
>>108667140I don't talk with anybody over phone chud. I use my phone as a computer
>>108667148then why not get a canoebooted x230 running parabola then?
>>108667129I gave up on Linux phone years ago. best we can have now is de-googled AOSP with root and termux.
>>10866716480% of my apps stop working if my phone is rooted
>>108667181I use only stuff from F-Droid and everything works. I don't care for banking apps, 2fa authenticators etc. I can do that through a web browser in a pinch.
>>108667199fdroid is closing in september bro
>>108667181none of my apps stop working with root but I am unrootedget on my level
>>108667240They're not, Google is just pushing an update in September that will gimp non-rooted phones.
>>108667253Currently they half back-pedaled and introduced a 24 hour waiting period after activating "Allow Unverified Packages" in the hidden developer options menu.Personally, I'll be switching to an AOSP DAP (no WWAN module) and using termux + signal to have non-google non-phone phone. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026/03/google-details-new-24-hour-process-to-sideload-unverified-android-apps/
>>108667129it's been the year of the linux smartphone for god knows how long, android (for now) runs on a linux kernel and dominates the global markets
>>108667324something that does not allow sideloading is not linux bro
>>108667328but android allows sideloading. at least for now.
>>108667129I remember when ubuntu revealed the ubuntu phone, it looked so nicethen the whole project crash and burned
>>108667129I agree, but Ubuntu Touch is hot garbage, have you ever even tried it? I tried it as a daily driver for a week and it was awful. The UI/UX is completely unintuitive and weird. Unless there was some major overhaul in the past year, this thing is dead.
