won it in a raffle at work, apparently it's the replacement for the chromecast or something. has an ethernet port which surprised me, still had to pull out a USB hub from a drawer to use external media though. i've already done the basics (VLC and SmartTube). it's not a powerful device, CPU only has 4 Cortex-A55s. but at the very least it's nowhere near as locked down as the old firetv stick i had.

>>108682585SmartTube is a great start. For TV/Film, I'd recommend installing HDO Box. If you don't mind using RealDebrid or Premiumize, I'd also recommend looking into getting Syncler set up. But HDO Box kinda works well enough, and far easier to use from the get-go, some streaming links require you to watch an ad to access, but overall the ux isn't bad. MovieBoxPro is another option that's easy to get going, but most streaming links are pay-walled there, and you'd need to sign into your Google Account. I've recently tried PlayTorrio, and that has been working quite well for me so far.For music, I recommend Metrolist. TuneIn also works if you want live radio. If you want access to SoundCloud, I recommend Tubular. For everything which is available in F-Droid, use the Flicky F-Droid client. For media playback, don't use VLC, get a patched version of MX Player Pro, and add the USBhost custom codec.
