Is Void Linux any good?

>rolling release
>no SystemD

that's about all I know
Are there any problems?

It seems like the perfect solution to our current (((situation)))

Why would I do this to myself?

i don't know especially considering that glibc is offered

Oh, okay. I was under the impression that musl was not optional, here.

I installed it on an ancient mac mini in an attempt to evade systemD and haven't had any issues thus far.

While it's not specific to void, runit is great, like it better than systemd.

I don't have a video card, might be a problem were that not the case, nvidia support for linux has always been wonky.

I've been using it as a daily for a few years.
Dev, gaming, localslop.
It's good. Solid distro. Handles nice, swapped from dwm and x to sway a while ago with no problem.
I'd say the best thing about it besides the package manager is the documentation. It's all neat and in one place. There was a period when I first installed, that the documentation was going through some growing pains and was fractured, but that's over now.

It's pretty nice so far. Always will recommend the glibc version unless you already know why you'd want to use musl. It's replacement for the AUR is void-packages and xbps-src, so it's like using the AUR without yay or paru. I like void-packages a bit more because it feels more decentralized even though there is a main void-packages repo. I also like that xdeb exists because it makes it easy to install proprietary garbage that gives a deb package, though more caution is needed for it. Worked when I used it. Runit is nice and simple. I haven't ran into any issues where I needed more than runit gives. The only issue is the people in charge, but I feel like you can ignore them more so than other distros so I'm not too bothered.
I think Void has the best chance to become a serious contender, so it's better to influence it now rather than wait around.

Just keep in mind that you will need to build more from scratch than other mainstream distros, if you're coming from Arch or a Debian based distro that might be a slight culture shock. But that's why they try to make building from scratch more integrated into xbps.

It already has a spinoff distro from a previous (tranny) maintainer called Chimera, which is neat but has terrible aesthetics. I might try it out regardless to see how dinit and their xbps clone/rewrite works since they seem proud of it.

if you care about not having systemd, absolutely
your alternatives are faggy "just change the logo bro" protest distros and gentoo

With the French Government starting to move into NixOS, and liberated-systemd getting more work, I think that NixOS might be our future. If the French Government goes hard into NixOS for security they will hopefully contribute to it's shitty documentation and language.
