You are not a real GNU/Linux expert until you have the penguins on boot.
>>
>>108692963
many distros used to have it on by default but they got enshittified + quiet grub no cli boot messages displayed by default
>>
>>108693062
no, you need to setup the kernel

A fun touch from a different time.
>>108693062
Indeed, which would nowadays make it a likely sign of deliberate linux geekness.

It was also common on embedded Linux systems, as in picrel. * Do you know if it isn't anymore?

I had this but the system always booted so fast I never saw it.
>>
>>108693137
I disabled 'quiet' from the bootloader in most major distros and I don't see the penguins
the kernel in those distros weren't configured to display penguins

>openRC
sorry you aren't a real "GNU/Linux expert" neither champ (I don't want to see the stupid fucking penguins)

You are not a real GNU/Linux expert until you replace the penguins on boot.

I tried debian/ubuntu-based distros, they don't enable the penguins by default:
$ grep CONFIG_LOGO /boot/config-*
# CONFIG_LOGO is not set

Seems like you need to recompile the kernel.
>>
>>108693092
don't all raspberry pis do this by default?
>>
cause all the distros hate linux and just want to rebrand it to be their windows

It's fun if you enable it on a high-end system because the penguins represent the physical cores
>>
>>108694916
boot logos?
>>
>>108695333
plymouth beachballs adnd grub logos
>>
actually what you call (favorite distro) is what we call plymouth/systemd/linux

>>
>>108695333

No

Checking the pinguing boot up setting in the kernel config is always the most fun part of configuring a kernel.

>>108693608
Post a picture with the current kernel.

CONFIG_FONT_SUN12x22=y

yep it's booting time
>>
>>108694925
akshually they represent all cpus (or cores), not only physical
>>
>>108697132

You are correct. I misspoke.
