Where do you guys get free AI tokens (via API or otherwise)?
Only really know about the free stuff on openrouter but those suck, and gemma4 is kinda unreliable, and none of those are SOTA.
And free usage limits on actual SOTA models are usually only thru a chat UI, and limited to a couple messages.

I have a student email, is there a company that offers free inference/tokens for students maybe? Since my CS degree is gonna be worthless in half a decade anyways, might as well at least get free tokens from my uni.

Would use it for building stuff, learning, so i don't need to wrangle with claude/gemini daily limits.
Or if i find something that's free and unlimited, maybe a 24/7 agent, but those suck rn.

Inb4 run locally: the best I have is 3060 12gb, would only be enough for gemma4 sized models, but that's free anyways so no point in running that 24/7.
Inb4 just pay 20/mo for google: I'm a student, not gonna spend even that.

lol you're actually doing CS? indian?

Nope, europoor.
Not actually called CS, "Informatics Engineering".

Definitely should've gotten into something else, we're ngmi.
We're getting cooked, just maybe a little slower than the others because things just change slower here.

Using coding agents to learn is a terrible idea.
Using them for building stuff is okay, but as a student are you really going to build some big long-term project with a lot of boring or repetitive parts to type out? When you get to the boring parts, just drop it and move to another project so you can learn something else.
Using non-agent AI for research and learning new things is good, but for that, you don't need SOTA models or lots of tokens. You can just ask free tier ChatGPT to explain graphics programming to you and that's already more information per day that you can absorb.
>inb4 answer the actual question
I don't know. I have the 20/month claude and it's enough for me

Yeah I agree, wasn't planning on using claude code as a teacher lol. But I do sometimes run out of free tier claude/cgpt/gemini (chat UI) when learning stuff, and dumber models just get a lot of shit wrong..

And yeah 20/mo is too much for me, maybe half of that is acceptable, but i'm just surprised that I cant find a student offer anywhere.
