I just got JM6 for small bookshelfs setup. After 30s I can understand why retards claim there is no such a thing like soundstage in pos. People in blindfolds talking about landscapes, colors and shit and arguing with microscope and telescope owners kek

Music is made for speakers. Some stereo effects don't even work on pos.

Since /hpg/ is dead, what other "studio headphones" classics should I consider getting? I already have a pair of DT990 PRO's, with the classic ruined Beyer velour earpads, and I've been considering getting a pair of HD600's for the sake of owning that "holy grail" of open backs.

Though I'd like to have a pair of closed backs as well to isolate myself from noise with the comfort of just slapping on a pair of cans instead of fiddling with IEM's. DT770's tend to have the same velour pads that don't isolate sound. Other pairs I've been considering are cans like MDR-7506. So idk what's best to put on my "near future consoom purchases" bucket list.

I mean looks like you got it all figured out already?
maybe instead of dogshit like 7506 buy something good like HD490pro or 480pro for closed back?
>>
>>108702249
>HD480 Pro
eh, ig, tho they cost more than HD600's so uh, idk, I'd rather spend that kind of money on the huh duh six hunge O's first.
>>
>>108702298
you wanted to consoom tho? HD-600 is a must have either way

Yeah but not that far. I still have a Model F repro to pay for and a job to find so, small steps. And obv HD600 > closed backs, I still have cheapo chink IEM's if I really need to zone out.
Tho apparently HD480's are great because the bass doesn't behave like it would on closed backs according to reviewers. So that would be interesting.

the irony is the video proves headphones are more revealing and more sensitive to spatial detail. headphones remove speaker crossfeed, so phase and timing differences are more exposed, not less. if something falls apart on headphones, that’s a translation issue in the mix, not a playback limitation.
the whole entire video is based on how psychoacoustics is related to mixing and playback differences.

the back of my ears have started developing blisters and i think it's because i wear headphones too much. might have to switch to something in-ear but i am worried about the long term effects on my ear canal like hearing damage or more ear wax
>>
>>108705967
>more ear wax
not really a thing unless you are unlucky
>hearing damage
don't buy bright POS. EQ out length modes and other resonances. don't turn volume up too much. and you'll be fine

Why did /hpg/ die anyways? I only visit them like once every 2-3 months.

Such a simple advice that people ignore far too often.
Also take breaks from listenan'. Some minor hearing damage can be reversed.

are there open back equivalents for in-ear listening? i'm thinking the driver hovers over the ear instead of sticking it inside the ear
